RIP

Really liked him in just about everything he did and some of his writing. For 70, he sure was badass in Cold in July.

Was just thinking of Jeanne Moreau being in Win Wenders "Until the End of the World".... a director Shepard often collaborated with.

A great actor in many good films. He's one of the best things in my all-time favorite movie, The Right Stuff, where he plays Chuck Yeager.

Yeah, he kicked ass in The Right Stuff. Saw a few of his plays on stage as well.

I was thinking "Roadhouse" bouncer at first but that was Sam Elliott. I'm actually not overly familiar with this guy but Oh well, RIP all the same.

A shame.

He wrote Paris, Texas, I think. Yeah, the last film I saw him in was in Midnight Special. Didn't't know he was sick and definitely not from ALS.

Re: RIP Sam Shepard

Can't say I was a huge fan of Shepard, but I've seen a lot of his work and always respected him.

ALS is a terrible way to go. I hope he didn't suffer in his final days.

I wonder if Jessica Lange will comment on his passing. They were together for 27 years until 2009 and he fathered 2 of her kids.

Damn right, Hokey. Every once in a while (especially in recent years), we get a day or week where a couple of genuine cultural luminaries pass - not "celebrities" per se in the sense of contemporary American media, but people of real artistic merit. It always feels strangely sad when there is a day or week like that.

He always added a touch of class to any movie he appeared in.
