Wonder Woman was awesome. Aquaman was awesome. Shazam! was awesome. Joker (watching it right now actually) was well regarded. So outside of Birds of Prey, DC seems like their on a solid streak to me.
I was looking forward to WW84 more than any other flick this year, so I'm pumped. I can't wait to see it.

I know it’s hit and miss with these opinions. From stuff I read on Facebook and Twitter a lot of these average joe fans on social media don’t trust movie pundits opinions because they think the studios pay them off with free screenings, merch and premieres to sway their opinions. Which is nonsense. One reviewer who I follow gets ripped for being a DC shill.

I see that HBO canceled their 7day free trial for this service. Is this just the main free trial? Will my code I got for buying a movie at Best Buy still work?

Apparently there is a post credit scene when this is released on the 25th that was not shown for the press screening.

Wonder Woman was awesome. - No it was fine. Nothing special.
Aquaman was awesome. - No it wasnt. It was fine, but basically a beat for beat remake of Thor.
Shazam! was awesome - it was good. Certainly one of their best along with....
Joker (watching it right now actually) was well regarded. - Probably their best movie in recent years.
Birds of Prey - Good lord this movie was awful.
Man of Steel - a Good movie ruined by certain elements and an overly long action oriented ending.
The rest of them... utter garbage.

So any reviewer who posts a glowing social media reaction prior to its release is a paid off studio shill?

Yeah that's pretty accurate. Their bribes are the early screenings and a few other perks.
That said, I didn't get the love for the first Wonder Woman and it also got a ton of flattering reviews both before and after its release date. So I have no hunch on this one.
(IMO, The first half of the first one was really enjoyable, but around the midway point it shifted gears and got thoroughly uninteresting and visually muddy)

Outside of maybe Guardians of the Galaxy, (or Deadpool if he qualifies now) there isn't an MCU movie I'd rather watch over Wonder Woman. One of my favorite comic book flicks of the last 10 years. Gal is just too damn likable.

Let's not forget, both Captain Marvel and Iron Man 3 got top notch advance press and RT reviews. Birds of Prey too. And the Ghostbusters remake. All still lousy movies.

Under the circumstances, simply being accorded the opportunity to see a much delayed, big tent-pole film in a real theater gets smattering of free goodwill right off the bat.
Gal and Pine are also likable leads who haven't created any negative controversy IRL- more goodwill.
Then multiply that by the "I get to see it before anyone else!" effect.
It would have had to have sucked hard, on multiple levels of execution, to have cut through the advantages it already had for fortunate, early viewers.

WW84 will be on premium video on demand and in whatever theatres are open on Christmas in Canada since they don't get HBO Max
If you live in Canada, please don't pirate this movie. Pay for it legally.

Wonder Woman 1984 will be $30 Canadian to watch it on PVOD. I saw the post on the CBC Facebook. And of course Canadians are now bitching about the price from the comments I saw.

There is also a 30 minute premiere event on YouTube on the WB and DC channels.
But, it's mostly fluff like interviews and fan questions, but they do show that opening sequence at the end.

For those of you with only a Roku as a streaming device, you will officially be able to watch this next Friday. Roku and HBO Max finally agreed to a deal.
The app will be out tomorrow.

Apologies if this has been asked but the trial HBO Max code that Best Buy gives out, is there a way to turn off auto-renew after the 14-day trial is up?
Recently got one of these codes for buying a Blu-Ray there.

Can’t you just cancel now and then it’ll just not renew after the 14 days? That’s how most trials work.

For those who use Chromecast, no Dolby Atmos. This will affect absolutely no one on this forum.
