Kevin Hart and maybe Jason Bateman a far 2nd. Although Bateman seems to play the same damn character in every movie.

If Baywatch is a hit, Dwayne Johnson could probably emerge as a part-time comedy star. He's also doing the Jumanji update later this year with Hart, so that's definitely going to be comedic in tone.

I don't think Will Ferrell has been turning out consistent hit movies as of late. Hell, he even made a Lifetime Made for TV movie a couple of years ago. He will have a hit movie like every 3-4 years.

it's Kevin Hart... he's not my choice, but he's a true "comedian". When it comes to who I love to see in comedic roles, Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron have carved out a nice niche.

That's always been the case. For every Cary Grant and Katharine Hepburn, there was a Groucho Marx and Moe Howard. One isn't necessarily better than the other -- Horsefeathers and Bringing Up Baby are both among the best movies ever made.

On Sunday I saw the trailers for both BAYWATCH, with Johnson and Efron, and SNATCHED, with Schumer and a grotesque-looking Goldie Hawn. Both films looked just awful. Neither trailer got a single laugh from anyone in the audience.

I kind of agree with that. I watched those two Dave Chapelle specials and realized I hadn't laughed like that in a long time. Maybe some Always Sunny and South Park episodes ... and? It's been awhile since I've gone to the movies and just laughed with the whole theater. I probably get more enjoyment out of reading some snarky political Twitter comments than any movies I've seen in the past five or ten years.

The more I think about this question, there is not one comedian who gets me to the theater no matter what they do. I pretty much saw every Jim Carrey movie in the 90's, until he started doing dramatic stuff in the early 00's. Even Adam Sandler got me to the theater for a few years (Happy Gilmore, The Waterboy, Big Daddy), although I look back now and only Happy Gilmore is still remotely funny among all of his comedies.

Chevy Chase, Bill Murray, John Candy, Steve Martin and Rodney Dangerfield were the comedians from the 80's that could get me to the theater no matter what they did. There is no way Kevin Hart,Seth Rogan, or any of the current comedian named in this thread that would get me to the theater just because of their name.

I can name several, and I've seen none of his movies in the theater. I didn't approach the OP's question as being subjective - I think he was asking who the industry considers the top comedic talent right now, and it's clearly Kevin.
