Bright (D: Ayer S: Will Smith, Edgerton, Rapace) Netflix 2017

Will Smith fighting orcs in LA, from the director of Suicide Squad. Could be awesome, could be an epic disaster.

I think Will Smith is on his way out with the big stuff now, save for hanging on to Bad Boys. This doesn't look promising, at least from this small teaser.

Netflix paid $90M for the rights.

Promo says it doesn't come out until December.

I saw Will Smith, Killer Croc with a shotgun, and then Harley Quinn. Are you sure this isn't Suicide Squad 2? Maybe they just shot this between takes on Suicide Squad?

They seem to be wasting a lot of money lately.

It's only a waste if it sucks, though I don't hold high hopes on this one. Hopefully the Scorsese one works out alright.

They want original content and are spending the money to get it.

I would also like them to get some of the new releases and some additional classic movies. They are really sucking in that department on the streaming side...

Their main focus is now on original content so you will see less and less of what you want.

Feels like Alien Nation, but Edgerton isn't an Alien.

I totally dig the fantasy element. Edgar Ramirez is in it, so he'll be cool no matter what.

I wonder what Netflix's budget is for original content. They seem to be producing a lot of it.

I think they spent 6 billion for 2017.

Reminds me of the roleplaying game Shadowrun.

Re: Bright (D: Ayer S: Will Smith, Edgerton, Rapace) Netflix 2017

Could be good. Really depends on what they do with it. I'm not always on board for Ayer's movies. He has a lot of hits and misses. But I do appreciate that he is often part of something adventurous and different (like a Hollywood-budgeted Netflix sci-fi/fantasy buddy-cop movie). His strongest movie so far was End of Watch.

This times a F'ing 1000 (which is my favorite world of fantasy books). That's the first thing I thought when I saw the trailer...and then I saw Netflix and cried. Mostly cause I hate freaking Netflix. I mean I guess I could do Netflix for a month or wait 6 months to a year for Blu-Ray (or longer)? But even if it is a trainwreck, I still really really want to see this.

1. Netflix is pleasant.
2. Netflix offers a free trial in the form of "Your first month is free, cancel at any time."

So when you're done with this inevitable shit show, you can move on and watch uhh... GLOW.

I had a very bad experience with Netflix, long story several years ago. I swore them off ever since. Shows like Daredevil, Jessica Jones, I've patiently waited for the blu-rays and bought them in quick fashion. It just seems like Netflix has a "bad habit" of getting things I actually want to watch. So I guess indirectly I'm giving them money anyway, lol.

And come on, Bright ain't a shit-show....yet

Re: Bright (D: Ayer S: Will Smith, Edgerton, Rapace) Netflix 2017

^ I dropped Netflix several years ago when they tried to split streaming and disc services into two separate services. Swore off it for about a year until they admitted they fucked up, apologized, and kept the services the way they were originally.

I had streaming and disc for a long time. Eventually I dropped the disc service and stayed with streaming only. Haven’t missed getting the discs in the mail at all.
