No word on plot but with Hamilton back (they killed Sarah Connor off screen in T3 because Hamilton didn't want to appear) this will be a direct sequel to Judgement Day, and the other movies never happeend

Interesting. So like Halloween they’re going to pretend multiple movies in the series don’t exist.

Lot of interesting angles to this--Cameron is involved with the story as well as Josh Friedman, who produced the TV series.
I wish they weren't planning to make this a trilogy already (the last two films in the series were supposed to open trilogies), but overall, I'm intrigued. I did not see the return of Linda Hamilton coming at all.
Edward Furlong next?

I liked T3 but I can understand why others didn't.
20 years ago I would have killed for a continuing Terminator movie series. Now after a string of duds I'm starting to think they just can't get past rehashing the same story over and over.
Frankly, although somewhat disappointed with Terminator: Salvation, I lost interest in the series once they scrapped the new trilogy that was supposed to begin with it.

Since Genisys was a huge hit in China, Skydance and Paramount better get the Chinese to co-finance this like Paramount has done with the Transformers series.
The Ellison’s covered most of the production costs of last movie. 66%

The TV series was already a sequel to the first two that ignored 3 and Salvation, and then Genisys ignored 3 and 4. Really, it kind of erased 2 for that matter, although I haven't thought about it that deeply so maybe it didn't. But the series was already a mess.

They opened up so many alternate timelines that they can do whatever they want with more sequels and explain it away in a few moments.
Rick and Morty does something like that.

If this is under the helm of James Cameron then yes, I'm sure it will be a revolutionized terminator movie. If not, then please put this franchise to rest.

James Cameron Sounds the Alarm on Artificial Intelligence and Unveils a 'Terminator' for the 21st Century
Cameron and Deadpool director Tim Miller sit down with THR to talk for the first time about how they will reboot a storied but troubled franchise for the new era of Amazon drones and AI anxiety: "People ask me, 'Will the machines ever win against humanity?' I say, 'Look at people on their phones. The machines have already won.'"

So basically Cameron got the ball rolling get a story hammered out.
Now that he's tied up with Avatar 2-5 for the next several years, he will probably be a very hands off producer on this. I'm sure he'll probably check in every now and then to see how filming is going. But, I guess they will have someone else oversee day to day filming.

I think I see where this is going, with big data, smartphone addiction, privacy, an-app-for-everything, etc. Genisys took a stab at it. I hope Cameron and Miller can really dig in and create something memorable.

I thought Clarke didn't want to do another Terminator movie. She was like, "No. Can I say that? Uhh, no! No."
Dunno what her issue was. Genisys was good. Maybe it was too physical a role?
Well, I'm sure she'll be back for the money.

Genisys was a steaming pile of shit and Arnold was the only decent actor in the bunch. Clarke was TERRIBLE. Having her back would automatically make this new entry a waste of time.

Genisys was so not memorable. I couldn’t even tell you anything outside of the trailers they showed prior to release...

Who said anything about Clarke? Linda Hamilton plays Sarah Conner in this.

The Linda Hamilton news is interesting, if they managed to reunite Arnie, Linda Hamilton AND Edward Furlong (with Cameron producing) I'd flip my lid. All 3 of them are decent actors, but when they got together in T2 the chemistry was amazing. Furlong and Arnie are a classic American movie duo. I thought Rise of the Machines was a letdown and Edward Furlong couldn't have saved that. But the big moment when Arnie and Nick Stahl came face to face, I felt nothing. I couldn't suspend my disbelief, even though I thought it was a very well directed scene. Had it been Furlong, it would have justified the movies existence in my eyes. I feel exactly the same way about Julianne Moore and Hannibal.
Terminator Genisys is a decent movie if you remove from the equation how great the first 2 are. It's the best of the last 3. Which I realize doesn't say a whole lot. In a perfect world James Cameron would have written and directed part 3 with the original cast and the trilogy would have ended and not been touched again, instead of this fucked up mess we have now...

I don't think an adult Edward Furlong would have worked for T3 or any other sequel. I mean yeah, it would have meant more to have Furlong meet Arnie again rather than Stahl, but Furlong doesn't have the look or demeanor to portray an adult John Connor (not that Stahl did either).
It was a fresh idea in 1984, and Cameron made it more emotional with the '91 sequel. Leave it alone now.
Arnold has never been the greatest actor, but his build and unemotional face was perfect for portraying an unstoppable killing machine. The novelty of a "good" terminator was made to great use in the early 90s.
But a good terminator again, break (T:S), again, again...
