I used to love those multiple night events for the King miniseries’ in the 90s. And they actually felt like events! Looking back on them, most were pretty terrible. To me the one exception is The Stand. Despite its TV quality production, I think it’s a legitimately great series. All the other miniseries are forgettable.
The effects on those things have aged terribly with time. They were merely TV level at the time, so now they're SyFy original level.

I watched the Director's Cut tonight (just over 3 hrs) and it's fantastic. Man, this an overlooked gem. There were a few added new scenes, but mostly extensions of scenes in the theatrical cut. Nothing dramatic.

Having not read the books and just by going from Kubrick's film, I was a bit confused at who Rose and Crow were. The film itself kind of plays out like a vampire movie. And after watching Umbrella Academy, i found it funny how some of the powers individuals had mirror those of the Hargreeve's children.

I'm trying to avoid spoilers, I picked the Blu-ray up on sale for $4 at Target. Is the director's cut the best version to watch?

I just started watching it and the actress who plays Wendy got the voice down and it's annoying the heck out of me just like Shelley Duval did 
also not crazy about the child actors. I'll watch it all for the story but my back hairs are all prickly and not from fear.

Finally watched this, with my daughter (back from college) who was a huge Shining fan. We both really liked it. Hadn't read the book. Watched the DC. Thought it was well made and well acted. Didn't drag for me. The Tremblay scene was harrowing. We both enjoyed the film more than we expected to. Ferguson was fun and McGregor did a fine job in the lead, though his accent was inconsistent.
Agree that the gal who played Wendy was a true doppelganger.
