Not saying you are wrong, I just can't see them going back and showing Lex's chair again since they had already clearly established that he wasn't there by showing his empty chair with the sign on it.

Now after seeing Steppenwolf, its more obvious Darkseid is pulling the strings on everything. Using Lex, who is using Batman, to get rid of Superman for an invasion. This would also explain Lex's mannerisms, speech and general freaking out. Now he can all normal and be like "I've broken Darkseid brainwashing. I'm not a lunatic"
Having said that, I've been defending the film as being much better than many are saying, but as I give it time to sink in, I realize that anything that needs that much inferrence and explanation probably merits some criticism. So I stand by my enjoyment of the movie, but am more sympathetic to the criticisms than I was a few days ago.

Well, it showed Mercy looking at the chair and Holly Hunter looking at it as she stammered looking at the piss jar. Mercy was way at the front, too. Unless this narrative changes in the ultimate cut she was toast.

Now there are folks saying that that was Yugha Kahn in the deleted scene. Damn New Gods all look the same!

I agree - definitely seemed like he knew what was going on. I just don't know why he would prefer Darkseid over Superman. If that was spelled out, I missed it. So that's why I was going with "he's a bad guy"
Except that particular dream sequence reaffirmed to Wayne that he was right to kill Superman. All of the dreams did that.

Yep. It even says his name on there. And she gets wtf is happening right at the end too. Such waste of a an actor.

I really hope the next Superman film is the Reign of the Supermen to fuck with everyone. And to bring Steel back. @shaq #kazaam

What's your favorite scary movie?
Kazaam! You know, the one where Shaq plays a genie.
That's not a horror movie.
Yeah, well, you've never seen Shaq act.

Now I have to go see it again to make sure (like I needed an excuse), but I would swear the shot I am talking about is a chair that doesn't have Lex's sign on it.

Laugh all you want but, that's not even the shot I am talking about. It's a quick closeup RIGHT before the explosion if memory serves.

was that right before the explosion though? i know there were 2 establishing shots of Lex's empty chair during that scene but i think there was a 3rd shot that didn't have Mercy's chair in the frame so you couldn't tell if she got out or not; or at least that's how i (mis?)remember it when i raised the question

I'm not trying to bust balls but she's dead. That's it. Look at her proximity. She's all the way at the front. If she had made it out then you would have seen her walk out and there would have been two empty seats there. There was not - just that single seat.

Mercy apparated from her seat just like Batman did when he would pop up out of nowhere during the Nolan films.

When it did the shot of Scoot McNary before the explosion I don't remember seeing her to the right of him
Probably wasn't paying attention to that though

We can all agree Mercy is wearing a gold and blue outfit, though, right?

Just got back from an 11:40am showing. My theater showed over 20 minutes of trailers and the film didn't start until shortly after Noon.
I enjoyed this more than Man of Steel. Was it the best comic book film I've ever seen? No. But, I was entertained for most of it. As a few others mentioned, it gets off to a really slow start before things pick up with roughly 1 hour 20 minutes left.
Personally I didn't quite understand the whole conflict between Batman and Superman, which was the center piece of the movie. Obviously Superman isn't a bad guy, so was Bruce Wayne purely seeking revenge against him for the death and destruction in the aftermath of Man of Steel? I'm assuming he was blaming him for the death of his friends and colleagues from that day even though it really wasn't his fault.
Man of Steel was just loud and non-stop mayhem and I think they toned it down a little here.
One thing I'm not quite clear about: What was that security video that Diana Prince was looking at on her lap top? It showed Barry Allen, Aquaman and Cyborg. Do we know who sent that video? Also, does this movie version of The Flash take place in the same universe? According to the Producers of Supergirl and The Flash, they said that Barry Allen doesn't exist in the same universe as Superman and Supergirl. So, I'm not quite clear if that applies here.
Anyways, from the brief clips of Ezra Miller as Barry, he just looks so wrong for the part.
Was surprised by the Kevin Costner cameo.
Anyways, I gave it 3 1/2 starts out of 5 and probably a B for a grade. It's a fucking really long movie, so even though I will probably get the BD, I may not watch the R-rated version right away. I think even 4 months from now when it's slated to come out, it will still be too fresh in my mind.
I am looking forward to Wonder Woman next summer. Thought Gadot was fun in her limited presence here.
One thing I did think was stupid was killing off Jimmy Olsen and making him some kind of CIA spy. WTF was that?

That whole scene was shot and edited pretty poorly, like they needed to beat the audience over the head that it was a trap with slow and repeated shows of both the jar by Holly Hunter and glances at both the wheelchair guy and the empty Lex chair. They were just screaming "HEY SOMETHING IS UP"
