Whether or not Mann chooses that same structure for the movie remains to be seen.

Didn't read the book, but we aren't exactly dealing with sacred text here, significant changes should be made imo. I don't mind a few flashback scenes, but it should really be centered on the storyline(s) after Heat, and I'd push it to 15+yrs later. And I guess Leo still may be involved? The talent alone is of course worth paying attention to this, I just feel like I'm going to wish it was for an original film.

From what I recall from the book,
Spoiler:
the story that takes place in 1988 FEELS the most like the original movie. It has urban criminals planning heists in and around Chicago, with Det. Hannah on their tail. The story that takes place after the events of the movie was basically Chris living under the radar in South America and working his way up the ranks of a South American crime family involving stolen technology. It didn’t really feel like “Heat” to me.

Leo confirms his involvement. Hallelujah.

Adolescence's star and creator Stephen Graham has reportedly been offered the younger Neil McCauley role in Heat 2. He is 52 which is exactly Robert DeNiro's age when Heat was released.

Sure, why not? Graham is always good.

Sure always good but I don't think he fits this part. He looks older than DeNiro in that pic

Throw a goatee and a mole on him and he’ll be fine.

So, Leo is possibly playing the role of Chris? Interesting.
