Based on the life and work of Vincent Van Gogh, the film is animated using hand made oil paintings in the style of the legendary painter, photographed at 12 frames per second. It's being produced in Poland, with 100 painters so far contributing work to the film.

The process of animation is interesting to me, since it appears that they make a full painting of a given scene, and then to animate it make changes to the painting shot to shot. Also, the film isn't rotoscoped, although they did shoot some live action for reference.
