I think so, too. The novelty is going away, and there's only so many movies per year your average ticket buyer will watch.

As much as I hate to say it, I also think that comic book movies are starting to wane a little with the public. And I think Disney is its own worst enemy here due to Star Wars. I think that series is now taking the spotlight away from Marvel. I would love to keep seeing DC and Marvel movies for years to come, but it's a house of cards (especially at this stage for DC/Warners). It just takes that one movie to really bomb to bring it all crashing down. Still hopeful they both keep it together for a while longer as I am still a huge fan.

I agree that a superhero crash is bound to happen, but I don't think quite yet. I think people are anxious to see DC's other heroes not named Batman and Superman.

I don't expect a significant drop in Superhero movie interest; everyone seemed to think that in the mid 2000's too and it only came back bigger. Granted there's a LOT more movies coming out, but I the public seems more invested now then ever and we're coming off a couple lesser properties that were successful in Ant-Man and Guardians of the Galaxy. I think the audience has really taken to the bigger universe thing. I think it will take a couple bombs to really make an impact, and even then I expect Avengers and Justice League to still be huge releases.

I mean he's caught up in taking down Zod but in the midst of it causes a hell of a lot of damage to Metropolis and as we hear from the Batman V Superman trailer thousands of lives were lost. Its not so much about needing to see people evacuated its more about Superman being so wreckless. I am glad that is being addressed in Batman V Superman but I think that's a major issue I and others have with destruction in Man of Steel as opposed to Age of Ultron. The Avengers at least seemed like they were trying to protect people even if not everyone survived.

I hear you. We will agree to disagree. I never felt Superman was the one destroying the buildings...it was Zod, it was Faora, it was the big Kryptonian who threw the train...Superman was doing his best to take down these villains bent on destruction.

And he did save that stupid family from Zod frying them. So there's that at least.

But he didn't buy the museum before he did it like Stark in another universe. So FAIL. :(

Superhero movies will remain popular as long as the movies are enjoyable and not Batman & Robin quality. There are always a new crop of young boys and teenagers looking for the next big superhero movie. It's possible that adults begin to show waning interest, but they aren't driving the box office anyway.

But how can he do that on a journalist's salary? Speaking of - has that EVER been addressed? What's the quality of Kent's journalist skills? I think we need a whole movie on that.

Yeah. Even recent flops such as The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and Fantastic Four don't seem to be doing much to turn the audience away. I think it'd take a film of Batman & Robin levels with one of the major heroes to really turn people off.

Could everyone be discounting the built in Geek audiences and the rising mainstreaming and popularity of Geek/Nerd Culture? Even marginally interested folks are following Geek Culture and living vicariously through them. I think that adds a bit to audience numbers when Comic Book films and shows come out.

Yup, that's another reason why I don't think comic book movies are failing anytime soon. Hell, the amount of merchandise is still growing the way toys and things are popping up everywhere - not only stores like Barnes and Noble, but there always seems to be 1 or 2 nerdy stores at malls these days, at least around me.

So after thousands were killed and injured during the fight, that one family is what motivates him to kill Zod. Stupid. -rolleyes-

Another factor is that in an era of $13-$20 tickets, these are the types of movies begging to be seen on the big screen. Latest Tarantino flick? I can watch that at home and enjoy it just as well as on the big screen. So even with a bomb here and there, these are the movies tailor made for the theater experience.
