Alicia Vikander

Are we in the midst of a skyrocketing career?

Ex Machina, The Man From U.N.C.L.E., The Fifth Estate, and The Danish Girl are just a few of the movies she has appeared in recently plus a role in the new Bourne movie.

Is she a true talent or does she have a good agent and somebody we won't remember in 5 years?

Pretty demonstrably, yes.

Sex appeal, a unique look, and at the moment, she's chosen some outstanding roles. I've seen her in the first two. The former used her in a really interesting way, wrong-footing the audience; sexy Swedish supermodel plays sex object! Only to turn the tables in interesting ways. The latter role was basically just thankless eye candy as the token sexy European girl.

Is she a true talent or does she have a good agent and somebody we won't remember in 5 years?
Only time will tell.

Re: Alicia Vikander

I've only seen her in Ex Machina but she was solid w/ her acting in there.

It's funny... the person that kind of burst into the scene a while back was Jessica Chastain. The woman suddenly had a string of movies so close together. The Debt was her introduction to me.

Then a fucking rush of films after that. Take Shelter (Fucking great film), Corionalinus, The Tree of Life, Lawless, Zero Dark Thirty and more in like 3 year span. The ones I named though were where I just took great notice of her.

But in all honesty...she touched Fassbender's dangler so Snake is jealous.

Re: Alicia Vikander

She was fantastic in Ex-Machina and about the only good thing in Danish Girl. I also liked her in Man From U.N.C.L.E.

I also support her love of getting naked.

Seems to be a common thing with these ballet chicks.

Shes got the kind of face that you forget she was in something until someone reminds you. "Hey remember her? She was the robot in Ex Machina? ..................Oh yeah, thats right."

The latest pretty flavor of the month. Place on shelf next to Margot Robbie, Rosamund Pike, etc....

Pike doesn't work there, she's been a pretty constant worker since her role in Die Another Day. She's only really had one big role (Gone Girl), but not sure how she's flavor of the month.

Vikander should be getting an oscar nom this year, doesn't mean much I know, but she is a solid actress. (She was nominated at the Golden Globes for both Best Actress (Danish Girl) and Best Supporting Actress (Ex-Machina), and won various Critic awards so far.) I don't think she'll be a huge star, but she'll fare better than Noomi Rapace.

Re: Alicia Vikander

She seems to be getting good exposure lately, but she's off the mainstream radar at least until that Bourne movie comes out. Ex Machina did a little business and seems to have an okay following, but The Fifth Estate bombed and Man From U.N.C.L.E. sort of got lost in the shuffle. The Danish Girl is getting a lot of acclaim and awards buzz, but I just don't see it being one of those Oscar season films that takes off and does big business like Tom Hooper's last two.

Re: Alicia Vikander

She made an impression on me when I saw a Royal Affair. I guess I had seen her before in Anna Karenina, but it was the former that made me learn her name.

Re: Alicia Vikander

She's got that magical combination of talent and looks. She's also carrying films that frankly may not have worked without her; Danish Girl in particular would've been awful without her. Honestly can't think of anyone who could've matched what she did in Ex Machina. She's quite good in Testament of Youth as well.
