What is she actually saying? I thought it was "cause your pet killed them" as well.

I watched it on MGMHD a few months back with captions. It's "Unless your prepared to kill them".

Agreed, I actually had trouble picking a scene to highlight, but went with the piano scene because so much is conveyed without any dialogue. It's amazing.

Honestly this whole movie is full of great acting and writing.
I can't think of any actor who would be able to act play his part today, get the subtleties that he did.

Also, not known for his flashiness or variety, but seeing Harrison Ford in those 90's thrillers that he did were pretty great. He was a "working class" type of leading man. His characters weren't always meant to likable, even though you always routed for him. He was like the last of those 60's and 70's leading man, before they making stars out of pretty people.

Tom Hanks when he finally breaks down in Captain Phillips. All through the film, I'm sitting there watching Tom Hanks play Capt. Phillips, when this scene happens and I no longer saw Tom Hanks. I just saw a man coping with everything that just happened.

Naomi Watts - "Betty's Audition" in Mulholland Dr.
It's the whole movie, but that scene in particular that made me learn Naomi Watts' name.

I never knew Gable had this in him
Even Bogie, also at the end of his life, gave the best acting in his career. Most notably in Caine Mutiny.

John Cazale in Godfather 2 when he confronts Michael and starts yelling at him.
Klaus Kinski in Woyzeck every scene.
Every Warren Oates scene in Badlands.

I think this scene from RAIN MAN is an example of really great acting from both Cruise and Hoffman:

Most scenes in 12 Angry Men.
I find it's a film that I can watch even if I have missed the first 20 minutes. Or theres only 20 minutes left.
It's shot very stylised but the words spoken are so powerful. I've always liked the scene when he is saying what did you see last week.

I would add:
Paul Newman in the last scenes of the The Hustler (one of the best acted movies overall ever in my view)
Every scene with Hopkins and Foster together was incredible in Silence of the Lambs
Many scenes with Nicholson and Louise Fletcher in "One Flew"

Ronee Blakley having her breakdown onstage in "Nashville" was just unbelievably freakin' brilliant. And that was her first film, no less.

In the Bedroom. Tom Wilkinson and Sissy Spacek in the kitchen. Or with Marissa Tomei in the store.
