At one point they said the trailers would only contain clips from the first half of the movie ... not sure if that is still the case or not.

I remember a poster here who was angry after seeing Jurassic World 3 years ago because he hated it and only saw it because most praised it here.

So I doubt he'll be seeing this one.

Bought my ticket yesterday night and the funny thing is I am sitting in the exact same seat I did for Incredibles 2 (seeing it in the XD format Saturday at 09:30 am Cinemark in Pacific Commons).

Very unscientific observation but when I bought my ticket for Incredibles 2 on a Monday a smallish amount of prime seats had already been booked but last night I noticed more seats in the top/middle section of theater were already booked so I am glad I pulled the trigger last night and this thing will probably easily clear $200 million. Granted, Incredibles 2 had a pent-up demand to get to a staggeringly high $180 million but this film feels like it is going to be a beast at the box-office based on the increased advanced box-office activity I noticed when buying my ticket.

Worst case scenario I see it having an opening weekend of at least 165-180 million.

I don't put too much faith in her reviews. She gave a glowing review to BatmanvSuperman, and she is pretty full of herself. She also loves to crap on Blade Runner 2049 or other big budget attempts at art whenever she has the chance. I prefer Chris Stuckman.

To whet the appetite for things "Jurassic Park" related before the new movie opens, here's a couple of videos in which someone illustrated scenes from Michael Crichton's original novel (via the audiobook version) that was much darker and gorier than the movies have been.

This one is about Dennis Nedry after he took the dino-embryos and drove out to give them to the company who paid him royally for them

Deadline is reporting tracking that shows it may land with a $135-50 million weekend, that sounds low to me but we shall see soon enough. I know I am chomping at the bit to see this film.

If the reviews are not so great, I could see it not opening as well as the first Jurassic World. The previous installment had combination of factors going for it. Nostalgia, better than expected reviews for what many considered a franchise past its prime, and Chris Pratt at the height of his star power. This time around most of that is gone.

$150mil seems right. $175 would be the highest I'd guess if it surprises. But it won't be anywhere near JW.

At least the budgets aren't completely outlandish on these and it has already made $370m overseas. The only issue I see with it is a super strong holdover for The Incredibles 2. Realistically, we could have 2 movies above $100m this weekend. Similar to the last time a Jurassic World opened, which made $106m in weekend #2 while Inside Out opened to $90m.

This is typically what happens when you get a movie that's marginally good at best and it does way better than expected. You get a sequel that doesn't even try to hide the fact that it's a cash grab.

We saw it tonight as invited guests for a private screening at the premier of the MX4D Motion Theater at a cinema that we frequent. I thought the movie was decent but there are some plot points that I think were absurd. I will not say much until the discussion on here opens up a bit more.
