I am curious about how they will finally kill Leia. If she can survice an explosion and fly through space about the only thing left would be to cut her head off with a lightsaber and I don't think fans would go for that.

The ONLY way Luke is coming back is as a Force Ghost. Come on. Anything else would be worse than TLJ ending anyways.

I am actually fine with the way Luke went out, he was instrumental in saving the the rest of the gang, just like Obi-Wan was in Star Wars.

^ I think we’d all put our money on Luke returning as a force ghost. We’re not so naive to think they’ll somehow write Luke alive somehwere....but there’s always that tiny chance...

So his force projection was wearing clothes?

I think it's sort of an interesting idea, where he becomes one with the Force and then comes back. If Luke is supposed to be one of the most powerful Jedis ever, then the idea of him crossing over and coming back with insight and knowledge of the universe's greatest mysteries is interesting and remarkable, and the kind of thing that will become legend more than his bilocation stunt in TLJ.
I don't necessarily agree he should "come back," but it always struck me as odd that Obi Wan said he would become "more powerful" than Darth Vader could understand if he struck him down. Being able to whisper in Luke's ear and come back as a force ghost that couldn't "interfere" when Luke and Vader fought never struck me as being all that powerful.

One of the cheaper things of the original movie was when Obi Wan was stuck down then five seconds later, his voice tells Luke to run. Like, let the dude’s death resonate for a bit before he starts coming back.

That is the power, that Obi Wan could stay around and give advice even after his physical form was gone.

It's back into secondary canon now, but the old novel Splinter of the Mind's Eye had Vader dueling Luke on some swamp planet and Obi Wan briefly merges with Luke to help him fight better.

Yeah, it seems like there's a lot of potential for this to be really bad. Remember Livia's scene in season three of The Sopranos that was cobbled together after Nancy Marchand passed away?

Depends on what they have to work with, I suppose.

But after Rian's Folly, the sequel trilogy is a compromised work, anyway, so I don't really give a shit about this movie outside of some mild curiosity as to what they're going to do with tje movie, and if they will attempt to correct Johnson's numerous missteps and bad decisions.

Thrawn in this would be cool. I should catch up on the Rebels show.

Maybe Naomi Ackie plays one of Snoke's students.

I think the cobbled scenes could work just fine...

Leia: “we must find Luke!”

Poe: “Uh, General. Luke is dead.”

Leia: “Then we’ll send Han.”

Poe: “oh boy. um, General Organa, your day is about to go from bad to worse.”

subtle hint/jab/dig that VIII isn't on the rig and that it is forefront of the pic? I mean, I get it, he did VII and IX, but why even have VII on there? Seems to imply that THIS is the sequel to VII that we all really wanted.

Considering Abrams read the script for The Last Jedi and thought it was so good that he wished he had written it and were making it, I strongly doubt the above.

That's a clue that he's directing a 7 of 9 spin-off Star Trek flick.
