Iron Giant returns to theaters in fall of 2015 - with new footage.

http://www.slashfilm.com/iron-giant-rerelease/

Warner Bros. and Fathom Events announced today that a remastered version of the 1999 animated classic, enhanced with brand-new footage, is coming to cinemas for a limited engagement this fall.

Surprised I'm the first to post this. Haven't watched this in a few years, time to spin up the DVD.

I'm in. Not sure how I feel about extra footage this far after release.

Which means we'll get the Blu-ray after the limited run!

I hope that the forthcoming Blu ray will have a Theatrical Cut option.

Some of the new footage will undoubtedly be the Giant's dream which gives you a brief glimpse of where he may have come from. Bird's always wanted it in the movie and you can see it in unfinished form on the dvd. Will definitely support this and check it out in theatres again. Hope it gets some kind of push this time, maybe play up that Diesel did the voice.

I think the movie - which is one of my favorites - is excellent as it is. The pacing and script are about perfect. Not interested in some throw in material cash grab.

At this point, I doubt that's the reason behind this re-release. Both Bird and this movie have been held in high regard. I'm very much looking forward to seeing this in the theater again and will definitely be picking up the blu.

Have zero interest in paying to see this in the theater, but will be picking up the BD for sure. An awesome movie that I trust Bird will make even better.

That is where I stand. It was one of my son's favorites. I really enjoy it as well. I didn't even know Vin did the voice until many years later.

Re: Iron Giant returns to theaters in fall of 2015 - with new footage.

Pete Townshend was a big reason this movie was made.
He was a fan of the author of the children's book this is based on and recorded a solo
record based on it too.

The record comes across to me as more of a Who album than a solo Pete one and has 2 songs billed as who songs.

Iron Giant is one of my 10 favorite movies.
My wife and I may have been the only people in the theater watching it.

It's been speculated that this will not be released on Blu ray, but just as digital streaming and or download situation. If that's the case: fuck that.

Hell yeah, fuck that.

Also, I'm been checking ebay constantly for a 27x40 poster. Only one that is up there is the Comic Con 13x20 which is going for $40 and up.

Bird seemed very interested in doing both, so I expect the Signature Edition will be out for the holidays unless there is something solid stating otherwise. But I don't expect we will get any details until after that Fathom showing.

Shocked this film is still getting buzz and re-released. I really enjoyed this film as well, but this film was a major bomb in terms of money made. Well praised, of course, just didn't draw a dime.

Posters on Blu-ray.com. I take it with a grain of salt, but, hey it's not beyond the realm of the possible. Don't believe me? Ask fans of "The Simpsons" DVDs...

I would figure at the very least Warner Archive would release this on BLURAY. Were they not tweeting out about this and sending Brad Bird tweets. I purchased The Great Race on bluray put out by warner archives on amazon.

Just wondering. In that case, I'll believe it when a press release comes out. Simpsons? Glad they didn't make Iron Giant a series.

For the fact Warner is putting money into restoring the film, a Blu-ray will be released. They need to recoup the cost of restoration and digital downloads are not going to pay for that.
