They get the title of biggest opening weekend for a January animated feature, 3rd overall (behind Ride Along and American Sniper).

Re: Kung Fu Panda 3 (January 2016)

Caught a matinee today. I bought the new Kung Fu Panda Blu-Rays, which included $7.50 movie cash.

Anyways, I liked it. It was cute and pretty funny. I liked seeing Po re-introduced to his real Father and Panda roots. I don't make it a point to drive to the theater and see cartoons, but since I saw it essentially for free, I was cool with it. The theater I went to was packed with kids and they laughed a lot.

Re: Kung Fu Panda 3 (January 2016)

I caught it tonight. It was cute and fun, especially the last 15-20 minutes and the final fight, but I thought the first 2 movies did a better a job with the story and villains. Kai didn't seem much of a bad ass despite being able to collect all that Chi from the various masters, and I thought the panda village and dad set up would have been a little better given how #2 ended. Still, a fun movie and nice continuation of the story and characters.

I thought I might be tired of Po and Jack Black's shtick, but it still cracks me up.

Re: Kung Fu Panda 3 (January 2016)

Saw this yesterday with my kids. I'd have to say it's probably the worst of the 3, but still enjoyable. This series knows how to piece together great action sequences, and this was no exception. Every scene involving the villain's weapon of choice was very well done.

But this movie was a little light on actual plot compared to the first 2 (not like those were really deep, but this one was definitely more shallow).

Worth seeing, but if I didn't have kids, I'd wait til video.

Good ending to the trilogy. I hope they don't make another one.
