Kung Fu Panda 3 (January 2016)
When Po's long-lost panda father suddenly reappears, the reunited duo travels to a secret panda paradise to meet scores of hilarious new panda characters. But when the supernatural villain Kai begins to sweep across China defeating all the kung fu masters, Po must do the impossible—learn to train a village full of his fun-loving, clumsy brethren to become the ultimate band of Kung Fu Pandas! I love the first 2 movies, excited to see this and glad it looks like it picks up where the 2nd one left off. |

I'm all for a third one. The first two were delightful.

Re: Kung Fu Panda 3 (January 2016)
Odd timing to release what looks like a Summer or Winter Break blockbuster sequel in January. That's usually dumping grounds for third-rate animated fare.

Re: Kung Fu Panda 3 (January 2016)
The reason for the January release a s visit was originally slated to open Christmas 2015, but they moved it to avoid going head to head with a little known movie called Star Wars.

Re: Kung Fu Panda 3 (January 2016)
jesus. Comes out the 29th of next month. Never even heard of this one being made. Kind of late to the game or have I just not seen any ads for for this this month or last?

Re: Kung Fu Panda 3 (January 2016)
Saw the trailer for it when I saw Star Wars. Looks cute. I might see it in theaters. I liked the part where the group of Pandas ate the stuff that was supposed to be used in a demo.
Does Kung Fu Panda 1 and 2 have movie cash for it at B&M's right now? I don't own either movie and I did like them. |

I remember part 2 being somewhat of a disappointment box office wise, so I hope this isnt heading towards the same as i've enjoyed the series quite a bit. |
Re: Kung Fu Panda 3 (January 2016)
Getting a lot of exposure being in front of most(I assume) of the SW showings. Looks funny... my favorite Dreamworks animated films. Hopefully it does well!

loved the first two and will look forward to this, but probably won't see in theaters...

Re: Kung Fu Panda 3 (January 2016)
The 3-D looked great in the trailer they are running before Star Wars. I enjoyed the other 2 well enough, so I will give it a shot & probably go for the 3D viewing now.

Re: Kung Fu Panda 3 (January 2016)
I hope it is not like Shrek 3 where they have babies.
I have not watched the trailer to maintain the surprise. |
Re: Kung Fu Panda 3 (January 2016)
Looks like a rip-off/remake of seven samurai. Are the previous films also rip offs ?

Re: Kung Fu Panda 3 (January 2016)
Sad this is getting dumped into January.

Jeffrey Katzenberg has said that perhaps the series could see 3 more sequels after Kung Fu Panda 3, bringing it to a six-film series |
Re: Kung Fu Panda 3 (January 2016)
I don't think that it was as good as the first two plotwise but it was very charming and had some funny moments. I hope that they finish the series as a trilogy as it had a really nice ending.

Re: Kung Fu Panda 3 (January 2016)
After watching it yesterday I do see how this one could have wrapped it all up nicely but a huge January opening and Dreamworks CEO saying in 2010 they'd like to have 6 Kung Fu Panda films ... makes me think they're probably going to keep going.

Re: Kung Fu Panda 3 (January 2016)
$41 million for the weekend, lower then the previous two (which were $60 and 47 million respectively) but it doesn't seem too bad. Didn't get a chance to watch it this weekend but probably will next weekend.

Re: Kung Fu Panda 3 (January 2016)
I sort of doubt they're really just depending on the domestic market for this one. There's two versions of it out there. one in English and the other is in Mandarin. Aside from doing the dialogue specifically for it, there's suppose to be some subtle differences in the film to cater to the Chinese audience.
Local theater is showing both, I'm kind of curious. |

I'd like to know this as well. The visuals were so great (especially in the spirit realm) that if the 3D was well done, I'd go see it again.

The 3D was great. You can tell they really cared how the framing was set up and it wasn't just an obligatory thing. Better than most 3D put out lately, spirit realm especially.
I was surprised how well all the elements: story, (right amount of) humor, music, and sound design (Atmos) ...and 3D, effortlessly all merged to such an entertaining movie. |
