Our theaters have Matinee pricing. Regular Adult tickets are $11.75, but if you go to a Matinee, it's only $10.75! Really. Then they have the nerve to ask for donations for St Jude's Hospital before the movie. Hey, why don't you make my donation out of my jacked up movie ticket price?

Yeah, our Matinee prices are stupid and like only a dollar difference. Some theaters have cheap showings for $6 or $7 before noon though on weekends, so we take advantage of that as much as we can.

Wow, almost no incentive for going at a low viewership time. It's always been a 2-4 dollar difference around here. I can't remember what nighttime prices are, I rarely go at night and if I do it's on a discount day.

My theater (Cinemark) has an "early bird" matinee at $5.75, followed by regular matinee at $7, night prices at $9, 3D matinee at $10, 3D night at $12, and XD (all times) at $11, except for 3D, which is $13.25. So depending on when you go and what you see, there could be a $7.50 different in the price of a ticket.

It's my understanding that the blanket licenses Fox has cover virtually anything that has ever appeared in an X-Men comic not tied to Marvel's other heroes. That would include a lot of things we aren't getting from the movies. It's why Marvel/Disney has moved to de-emphasize mutants in the comics.

Not for another three years. But I suppose I could say I'm a senior citizen...although I don't look it. Or so I'm told.

Like when I was 14 & 15 and telling them I was 11 so I could get in for kids' prices. I was short, though, and looked it. Except for the last couple times I tried it. By then I was pushing it.

I remember the first time I paid adult price at the age of 14--to see THE ST. VALENTINE'S DAY MASSACRE and PLANET OF THE VAMPIRES--the cashier wanted to charge me children's price and I had to insist I was 14 and she looked at me in disbelief. The adult price was 75 cents and the kids' price was 50 cents. The next week I went with my little sister to see YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE at the same theater and they'd upped the price to 99 cents for adults and 75 cents for kids, so I was back to being 11.

Hmm, I thought Terminator Genisys would have higher estimates, so looks like a fair chance of Jurassic World being #1 for another weekend.

I'm a big X-Men fan but I've never heard of Savage Land. I've always thought that they should take X-Men out to space, kinda like Avengers. Whedon's Astonishing X-Men comics was good.

There is an X-Men Savage Land story from Marvel Fanfare 1-4 with gorgeous art and a good story. It is worth checking out.

JW is $43 million ahead of Avengers after their 17th day in theaters. $650 mil is possible but I don't think there's enough momentum to push it to $700 mil US.

Really? It's been featured quite a bit, not only in the comics but also in the Animated Series with Sauron and Ka-Zar.

The Savage Land? Jesus... if you're a big X fan... you should know wtf that is. The cartoon for sure showed that off. The Konami Arcade game too.

One of my favorite Savage Land bits was when Spidey (in his Sensational series) went there. Was like 3 issues of fun there.

Why does a pterodactyl have a gun holster? He's a freakin' pterodactyl!

(Or is that a pouch?)

I think he did have a ray gun or something. Sauron was always one of the better X-Men villains.

All that beautiful Byrne/Austin art and he focuses on the pouch.

Made me think of when I was dragged to the NY comic con (maybe 2000?) years ago and seeing George Perez draw an unsigned naked wonder woman for a fan. It was amazing in how detailed it was, and it took him less than 5 minutes to make this beautiful piece of art.

Well he's a human that transforms, right? At least from what I remember from the cartoon.

No one could draw Koriand'r like Perez. Yes, she was an alien sexpot, but he also captured he naivete, innocence, and childlike nature in a way that few (if any) artists have been able to replicate.

Of course in the NuDC she's just a fuckbot, but that's neither here nor there.

From Deadline, Magic Mike XXL is slightly ahead of Terminator Genisys, and then the usual suspects fill out the top six, which would be Inside Out, Jurassic World, Ted, and Max.

Well so much for that. I went to see a matinee today of FAR FROM THE MADDING CROWD at the Angelika and the cashier gave me a senior citizen discount without even asking. I guess she figures everyone who goes there on a weekday at 12 Noon is a senior citizen.

I'm sure it has nothing to do with the fact you were going to see a Thomas Hardy adaptation of a 19th century novel about a farmer in Victorian England.

Hmmm...you may have something there. I did NOT get the senior discount when I went to an AMC theater last night to see DOPE.
