DTS's answer to Dolby Atmos
As to create an immersive 360 soundfield, DTS announced yesterday and the updates are beginning to trickle in regarding application of this new object-based sound mixing for both commerical theatrical and home theater systems. In regards to the former here's the first news of the theaters that will feature DTS-X sound:
Carmike Cinemas, a leader in digital cinema and 3D cinema deployments and one of the largest motion picture exhibitors in the US, will upgrade selected theaters to DTS:X beginning in Spring 2015.

Valley Bend 18 (Huntsville, Ala.)
