The Hobbit didn't get a visual effects nomination? Interesting.

Thanks...for some reason this makes me feel even more upset that it wasn't nominated for Best Actor, Screenplay or Picture.

Selma gets the obvious token minority nomination, how embarrassing.

If I had my way (my opinion of course) :

- David Fincher, Gillian Flynn & Carrie Coon would be nominated.
- Jake G gets 2 nominations (he was also great in Enemy).
- Uma Thurman would have been nominated for best supporting actress in Nymphomaniac.
- Tom Hardy would have been nominated for best actor in The Drop.
- Denis Villeneuve for best director Enemy.

-The Academy really didn't care much for Gone Girl.

-Based on the 30+ year old Editing theory, it looks like Best Picture is between Boyhood, Grand Budapest Hotel, and Imitation Game.

-A Most Violent Year is shutout. I thought that was supposed to be a contender.
unlike 'Americnan Sniper' which has Clint Eastwood's name to it - I don't think it's limited Oscar qualiification theatrical run helped in the slightest - we here in DC are gettting 'A Most Violent Year', 'American Sniper' and 'Still Alice' all opening tomorrow.

I really hate all the articles that come out saying so and so was "snubbed". The word irks me, especially when it isn't deserved. "Angelina Jolie snubbed!".... was she? Definitely not...

I'd consider Lego movie (way better than Boxtrolls) a snub. The rest eh.

personally I thought 'Unbroken' was an indication that Jolie should never be put behind a camera ever again.

How to Train Your Dragon 2 was such a disappointment in my mind - the overbearing family message/importance schlock felt like what the Ice Age movies were forcing down your throats with.

Lego Movie was fun, but Boxtrolls felt more like a Brothers Grimm tale - dark, adventurous, and never bowing down to contemporary humor that so many Hollywood films seem to think better a kid's movie.

I liked the concept of Boxtrolls, in general I like Laika's output, but the movie just did nothing for me.

Heh, that's what we need, affirmative action at the oscars -- force ethnic variety even if they don't deserve it, because that's whats right. I like that he acknowledges that a mexican was nominated, but it doesn't matter because the others were white?

If Keaton, and Boxtrolls ( Laika should always win, for the awesome work they put into everything they do) win, I'd be happy. Don't really give a shit about anything else.

Yea... that's why I hate all this "snub" talk. If they didn't deserve it... that's all. Plain and simple.

The Wrestler should have won that year.

They should have nominated Oyelowo for Interstellar just to rub in the snub.

Achievement in music written for motion pictures (Original song)

“I’m Not Gonna Miss You” from “Glen Campbell…I’ll Be Me”
Music and Lyric by Glen Campbell and Julian Raymond
This is the most baffling nomination I've seen in years. What the hell is GLEN CAMPBELL...I'LL BE ME? And how did enough people see it for its song to get a nomination? I guess Campbell's people flooded the voters with DVDs. Is Campbell gonna come out on stage at the ceremony and sing it?

What's next? TOM JONES...STILL KICKIN'?

Really? http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/new...d-alone-676330

Besides they don't need to see the movie, I think they get sent soundtracks / singles.

I just saw Begin Again last weekend, and the damn soundtrack has been stuck in my head ever since. Really good.

hands down the most memorable part of the movie (and hell, the entire year) in terms of raw, emotional acting
