LUCY (2014) - I hadn't even heard of the movie when I saw the trailer and I immediately thought that it reminded me of anime, so I'd give it a try. Plus, it was Luc Besson directing and I'd always wanted to see ScarJo in her own action vehicle.

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels - best scene in the trailer never made it to the final but it sure got me to see the movie.

Guardians of the Galaxy - it had a cool vibe that was evident throughout the actual movie.

Re: Trailers that sold you on seeing the movie?

Terminator 2..... but i would have gone to see it without even seeing a trailer.
Point Break
Up in the Air
Independence Day

The thing is that most movies i know pretty much whether i am going to see it at the theater or not before a trailer comes out. For example, next year i am positive i will go see Spectre, but yet we will be months away from a trailer. Sometimes a trailer has the opposite effect and i have a movie i want to see, then the trailer comes out and my enthusiasm complete disappears. Thats kind of what happened with the Terminator Genisys trailer. Up to seeing the trailer i was curious about this movie. Seeing the trailer was a back step for me. I might still go see it, but any subsequent trailers have to show a better movie than what was displayed in that first trailer. And shitty acting cannot be CGI'd out.

One of the Transformer movies where a GIANT building sized robot is reeking havoc down a freeway and from the side you see a very small by comparision Optimus Prime diving off an overpass in slow motion onto the decepticon robot.

I don't remember which one it was, all I remember is that in the end it was shit.

Independence Day. I think the White House blowing up is the biggest money shot in trailer history.

Complete opposite for me. It felt like I had already seen the movie after watching that trailer -- gave everything away.

Broken Arrow had a fantastic trailer. Unfortunately it was a terrible movie.

Star Wars. I was 11 and all I can think was WTF was that? Same with the Matrix. They're still awesome.

Million Ways to Die in the West. Seeing the Doc Brown/Delorean bit in the trailer made me defiantly want to see the film, even if that was the whole scene.

Re: Trailers that sold you on seeing the movie?

Similarly, Time Changer sounds horrible on paper, but the trailer had me laughing a good bit more than some movies released in 2002.
