One of my favorite movies is Donnie Darko. A nearby Regal was one of the handful of theaters that showed it in it's initial release, but I didn't go. Would have been neat to say I'd seen it before it achieved cult classic status. The midnight shows that occasionally played at the local art house a few years later were always the inferior director's cut.

I missed Titanic during its initial theatrical release and when I caught it on video, I thought it was overrated. When I saw it during its IMAX 3D re-release (on a real IMAX screen mind you), I was in complete awe of the spectacle. I understand why it was the biggest grossing film of all time for over a decade.

I regret not seeing some of the Disney animated films in IMAX (Fantasia 2000, Beauty and the Beast, Treasure Planet, The Lion King) prior to IMAX putting out the DMR process.

I really wish I could've seen Battle Royale on the big screen. Even when Anchor Bay gave it a brief theatrical release prior to their Blu-ray release a few years ago, it didn't even come close to Vegas.

Since I was born in the '80s, I wish I could've seen a lot of classic films from that time on the big screen as well. While I've done some amazing catch up (Back to the Future, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Ghostbusters, Goonies, Indiana Jones trilogy, and Top Gun to name a few), there's still a lot I would've loved to see projected in 35mm as digital projection simply doesn't cut it.

I never said or implied it hasn't; shootings or other bad things happen in all circumstances and it's just silly to be afraid of someone shooting you just for asking them to turn off a cell phone or something.

Pacific Rim. That would have been pretty epic on the big screen.

Back to the Future 2 - the only movie from the series I've never seen in the theater.

I regret not seeing Raiders of the Lost Ark when it played not too long ago in a local theater. It would have been like traveling back in time.

Audition was shown in a local theater as well and it had great reviews in the local paper but I was too lazy back then. Saw it later on DVD and realized it would have been something to see on the big screen.

The Skin I Live In was playing and it looked pretty awesome, but again too lazy.

I'm so disappointed I didn't make more of an effort to see the new restoration of the The Red Shoes when it was making the rounds a few years ago. I won't make that same mistake again if given the chance. As a matter of fact I'd be up for seeing any of the Powell & Pressburger technicolor films on the big screen.

del Toro really really really worked on how the scale looked. Very rarely does a movie that needs that kind of visual work so well.

Aliens is the first movie to come to mind. My first viewing was on a little, bitty, tiny 13-inch television at a party back in the 80's. It's one of my favorite sci-fi movies of all time, I would have loved to see it in all its glory. Oh, I guess I could add The Thing to my list as well.

I'm thinking I would have loved seeing The Shawshank Redemption on the big screen. Oh, and Flight! yes, that's the most recent. I watched it on my iPad mini while at work and I was on the edge of my seat viewing it in that format.

Batman 89 would be a big one. I've seen every Batman movie theatrically but that one since I was only 6 years old. Seeing the Reeve's Superman would have been neat too.

I'd also put Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm St and Halloween in there in a classic 1980'd theater also.

Moulin Rouge! with the crazy editing and dizzying camera, it would have been a hoot! Oh and it looks damn awesome too.
Avengers and both Captain America movies for recent films.

I did see Moulin Rouge in theaters as a kid. I didn't like it. I just didn't care for it overall. I loved it as an adult though. Still, as a kid, it was a visually crazy flick. I was seeing things I had never seen before.

Probably Gravity and Interstellar (IMAX). I saw Gravity on Blu-ray and I have already seen Inetrstellar twice via 35 mm and Digital presentations. I just couldn't get to a real IMAX screen this time out.

Blade. I couldn't believe out of all the Marvel Characters that he got a movie. I didn't go see it out of spite. A year later, Got the DVD (my first) as a Xmas gift. Boy was I wrong.

Moulin Rouge was another movie I saw theatrically (actually I projected it) on a small screen that would've looked great on a big one.

But I'm willing to cut myself some slack since I didn't know who Terrence Malick was until around 2003. I would love to see it on the big screen though.

One that comes to mind for me is How to Train Your Dragon in 3-D. I didn't see it because I'm generally not a big fan of 3-D animation (I like traditional 2-D). Then, in the time between the theatrical release and my eventual viewing of it on Blu-Ray, I had an accident that resulted in losing most of the vision in my left eye. 3-D no longer works for me.

I'd heard the flying sequences were amazing in 3-D.
