Just finished watching this and it was fucking great! IMO

Wow, Elle Fanning is gorgeous and that last part of the film will be talked about for quite a while. I was hypnotized. The score is also phenomenal and I will most definitely be getting the vinyl. Ha, they also filmed some of it in Pasadena.

This movie really, really, sucked.

I liked most of it, but that ending did not work for me at all. Just pure cheese.

Nowhere near this, but I believe you about Pasadena.

But not quite this bad. Maybe remove one "really". I dunno, I'm not digging his style over substance on his last couple of movies.

Watched it again today. The audio commentary is fairly entertaining, but it's just a hypnotic flick. Every frame is designed with meticulous care.

It's in my Top-10 of the year.

Really liked this. Elle Fanning was fantastic in this, as was Jena Malone. Keanu was great in a small part. The ending will either make you cheer or howl with laughter. Visually, this was fantastic of course, and the MUSIC...what a great score. NWR hits another home run, IMO.

Yup. The film will play from the beginning and Elle and NWR will begin talking. You bought it, right? It's only available if you purchased it via VUDU. Not the rental or on Amazon.

I liked Chris' review especially, at the end, when he sums it up, "Weird as shit...but I kinda dug it."

It's accurate. I rewatched this the other day, it wasn't as jarring this time but it still hits odd for odds-sake territory.

I don't know. I got all the meaning and symbolism in my first viewing. Kind of hit you in the head with it at times, especially the ending. To me it was straight forward and when you remove the weird shit, it's a story that's been told before, it's only memorable because of, mainly, two scenes. And style wise, my first impression, basically from the beginning, was NWR was channeling Kubrick.

At first I hated it but upon further thinking, I just dislike it and only appreciate the cinematography, Martinez's score and Fanning and Malone's performances.

I watched this last week and HATED it. It looks nice, has a good soundtrack and even Keanu was good. everything else was horrible. Don't get how anyone finds Elle Fanning hot. She is just a thin average looking girl. Jena Malone is horrible in everything and is ugly as shit. She has such a screwed up face, and seeing her titties in this, or should i say lack of, was a waste of time. I get that people are gonna say that the whole idea of everyone in this movie (minus the wanna be boyfriend) are despicable self centered arseholes and that its all a critique on not just the fashion industry but the world as a whole at the moment.....but its not telling us anything most people don't already realize.

I like a lot of early Refn stuff and think that Drive is a masterpiece, but since then he has disappeared up his own arse and has jumped on the hype train believing he is the second coming. I have noticed that a lot of the stuff he writes and directs are his worst work. He should stick to just directing and get a decent story in place before jumping in head first.

I do appreciate the dreamlike quality to the movie, but these days my time is precious and i don't like spending it on self indulgent bilge.

Oh and that ending was laughable. Refn also likes to insert a couple of scenes in his stories that are designed to shock the audience. I can appreciate this, but not when it feels like a gimmick to make up for the lack of actual substance.

Saw it in the theater and just got the DVD from the library so I can spend some more time with it (i.e. commentary).

I'm tempted to get the Mediabook German edition. It has a 1 BD. 2 DVDs and 1 CD.

I find it interesting that you complain about horrible people, and yet also one of your biggest critiques is the attractiveness and breast size of one of the co-stars.

I do think Jena Malone is rather...plain...but I think that suits the character perfectly; someone who wants to be around the beautiful people, but isn't one herself.

Not only is she not one herself, but her tits are smaller than Milk Duds.

I thought she was kind of cute in the movie for the first half.

Alas, the second half sort of wrecked that.

I liked the way her character turned in the second half. Crazy sexy.
