Man of Steel wasn’t any worse than your typical MCU outing.

Eh I don’t know if I’d go that far. It’s one of the better DCEU films in my opinion but that’s really not saying much. I have very little desire to rewatch it whereas most of the MCU films are rewatchable to me. It maybe is on par with some of the lower tier MCU films but I wouldn’t say better than any.

Man of Steel still has the best actual superhero fight ever put on film, even after Marvel is nearing 20 films in the past decade.

Snyder just missed a few tonal beats that would have made Man of Steel a beloved film. The tiniest bit of script doctoring could have made it Superman's Batman Begins.

Way more than tonal beats jacked up this film, including the Avatar beginning.

I’m such a DC fanboy that every other thought I’ve ever had is DC comic related, but Man of Steel was worse than every Marvel film ever made, including Howard the Duck and all four Fantastic Fours.

The last Fantastic Four movie was so bad it made me never want to see another FF movie ever again.

I passed on that. We'll get another one soon enough.

Jordan is too young to play John Stewart, but he's the hot actor right now so I guess he can do a good job of it. Mosaic was one of my favorite runs in the 90's- a very different DC comic.

Screw it- they should just do a movie version of Cosmic Odyssey. Unfortunately after JL none of these things will come to pass- just lots of standalone DC movies with little or no crossover.

Eh I think that’s debatable. Sure it’s a good fight from a pure action stance but it lacks a lot of drama and just comes off as two forces of nature wrecking a city with their fight. Superman should have shown more concern for what was happening rather than leveling a good chunk of Metropolis without a care in the world besides being able to make out with Lois afterwards.

If by a few tonal beats and some script doctoring you mean throw out pretty much the second half of the film then sure. Snyder missed a lot more than just a few beats with Man of Steel.

The first fantastic four movie wasn't even released, so it's a little bit of hyperbole I think. I didn't even bother seeing the last one (which ironically starred Michael B Jordan in a race changing role... so obviously he needs to be the next Steve Rogers).

re: Future DC Studios projects discussion thread - News, rumors, etc.

Some crazy rumors are flying that Warner wants the Supergirl movie to be a period piece...set in the 1970s.

It looks more and more likely that WB is largely giving up on a shared universe and going back to standalone movies. That limits the financial risk if any of the movies are creative disasters.

I prefer the standalone approach.

I guess that would make some sense if they go with the pod from MoS, but as a nerd I'd rather them just do some kind of long forgotten JSA with Wonder Woman. Or the far flung future with Supergirl and the LoSH.

Yea, they talked about that during press for Fallout. I think McQ even tweeted about it.

I would so love a proper Superman movie with Cavil

Cant they just make one and not spend a lot of money on it, so they don't gamble as much

A Chris McQuarrie Superman movie would be epic. He is light years beyond Snyder.

I'm still curious as to what a Wachowski's Supes would have looked like...

Hmmm.

Most likely it means that Ben is just reading it since he’s a “Producer” on it.

Or it could be totally unrelated and he’s just reading the script for The Accountant sequel that he’s attached to.

Yes? If Cavill does stick around they really need to give him (and everyone for that matter) a good script.

Agreed, Cavill is not the problem.
