The Revenant (2015, D: Iñárritu) S: DiCaprio, Hardy

Re: The Revenant (2015, D: Iñárritu) S: DiCaprio, Hardy
This has an even better cast than I realized. DiCaprio and Hardy alone make it a must watch, but there's also Domhnall Gleeson (Ex Machina) and Will Poulter (goofy kid from We're the Millers). This is definitely at the top of my list and looks like it will be a multiple awards contender. It's got a limited opening on 12/25 and goes wide on 1/8/16.

Well at least Inarritu is using his love of long tracking shots for something visually interesting this time.

Probably will be some more pics like this for Lubezki.

Didn't care for Birdman so I'm indifferent on Iñárritu, but the tracking shots in this look great.

I've liked all of Iñárritu's films (with Biutiful being my favorite, Rodrigo Prieto did that one) so I'll have to check this out.

CSBs:
Tom Hardy lived in my neighbourhood during filming.
My family and I went by one of the sets on our way to dogsledding.

Yep. I'm really happy to see that he changed it up after Babel. For the better. The same format was starting to push it very fucking quickly.

This thread should have more than 2 pages. It looks fucking amazing.

You can probably credit his break up with Guillermo Arriaga for that. Who wrote all 3 of those films for Inarritu. They both moved onto better things after Babel IMO.

Yeah Iñárritu got tired of Arriaga always wanting sole screenwriting credit for their collaborations. Don't know if Arriaga moved on for the better, The Burning Plain IMO with the same formula as his previous films was mediocre at best. Now AGI's Biutiful which was the first film he did without Arriaga is to me his best film and features Javier Bardem's best acting performance.

Man In The Wilderness (1971). Starring Richard Harris was based on Hugh Glass. Rented this I think on videotape and thought it's was pretty good.

Is there enough of an audience for something like this to justify a $135 million budget? I don't see this having enough appeal to get even DJANGO UNCHAINED numbers.

Troubled production with an enormous budget hot off the heels of his previous film winning Best Picture. Michael Cimino anyone?
