These movies have been criticized for making the robots look like scrap heaps, but man, when I saw the inside of Lockdown's ship, I predicted a plot twist where it would turn out to be from Junkion.

It still might be. We'll find out in the TF5. ;)

I saw this a bit earlier tonight with my son. To say that it was a chore to get through would be an understatement. I started dozing off very early on, and ended up having to go get some nachos to try and bring myself back to life a bit. They didn't do the trick, as I kept drifting in and out of consciousness. The movie was just waaaaaaay too long and had too much stuff going on. My son enjoyed it though, so that's a plus. Personally, I'm just not that into this series.

And I've never had a complaint about sound or picture quality at my local theater, but this movie just didn't really look or sound good. The sound was obscenely bass-heavy, to the point where I felt the rumble in my stomach. The balance was terrible though, because then the dialogue sounded muffled.

Re: Transformers: Age of Extinction (Bay, 2014) — The Reviews Thread

TRANSFORMERS: AGE OF EXTINCTION came and delivered pretty much exactly what everyone thought it would, which is generally low ratings and about a billion dollars in worldwide grosses. This brings us to comedian Doug Benson who has been rocking a podcast appropriately titled Doug Loves Movies. In the most recent entry, T.J. Miller guest-starred and the topic of TRANSFORMERS: AGE OF EXTINCTION came up. I think it'll come as no shock that Bay can be a little abrasive on-set, but Miller decided to give us his take on why he's optimistic to not work with him again.

T.J. Miller on what it was like to work with Michael Bay:

Ya know, he has a specific way of communicating with people. Once he said to me, "Nothing that you've said is funny T.J.! Not one thing all day! We hired you to be funny! There's 300 people here! None of them are laughing at you! Say something funny! I can still cut you out of the movie!" And I said, "Michael, I would love that because then I would be able to leave right this instant!" And he said, "Say something funny! You haven't even made the Make-a-Wish kids laugh!" To be fair to him, I hadn't, and they were standing there like, "This . . . was not our wish." Then the second the cameras stopped rolling he would say, "Hey, do you wanna get sushi and grab drinks?" It was a very bi-polar experience.

In regards to watching the finished film:

What's random to me is that I'm in the movie. It feels like some buddy of mine was like, "Hey, I got this editor to CGI you into Transformers and you look like a f*ckin' idiot."

 That is awesome. And that seems like it's exactly why we get the movies we get.

That is awesome and seems in keeping with how Bay acts in the behind-the-scenes footage of these movies.

Yeah. The features showed that well. Not sure about the rest but the first one had solid features.

hanshotfirst1138 07-29-14 06:52 PM

Even on the DVD special features, Bay comes across as pretty abrasive and difficult.

IMAX 3D > RealD 3D
Dolby Atmos > IMAX

I enjoyed it. As long as things are happening I'm easy to entertain yet am aware of flaws. Wow, this was LONG! Still entertaining yet it likely did not need to be quite so long.

Incredible chore to get through and I cannot imagine watching this in the theater, at least at home I could pause it to take a break. I can't decide which was worse, AoE or RotF. It's close, but edge to AoE for being the bigger POS. At least RotF had the courtesy of being 15-minutes shorter.

lol, I know. Kind of like Lord Voldemort, I don't think any of those names should even be typed out.

Bay certainly has a type for women - reaally young, underaged/nearly underaged, exotic eyes, and kind of dumb.

Hot Toys is releasing a classic/animated Optimus Prime (with weird Starscream parts), but the design made me wonder if it would really look that odd if they used some updated classic designs instead of the mess-of-gears Bay decided on. Maybe when/if they reboot the series.

Man, this thing was a chore to get through. They could have easily removed that entire middle section in Chicago and just gone from Texas to Hong Kong and nothing would have been missed.

Say what you will about Bay but the guy sure makes a pretty looking movie! Every shot looked amazing. Though I imagine at some point someone will make a drinking game where you have to take a shot every time an American flag makes an appearance in one if his movies.

The humans actually weren't that annoying this time around. Wahlberg made a very good replacement to Lebeouf and even the girl and her boyfriend weren't overly annoying. I do think they managed to make a more emotional relationship between Sam and Bumblebee in the last movies. There just really wasn't any connection between the humans and the autobots this time around.

I found it humorous that one of the Autobots was voiced by John Goodman and they also used a sound clip from Goodman in The Big Lebowski when Bumblebee spoke at one point.

Watched this with my gf and two buddies, none of them made it through it except me

Some cool scenes here and there, insane surround sound as usual but this series needs to end or have someone else take over

This was barely better than 2, I think Dark Of the Moon is still my favorite
