I think they're mainly banking on nostalgia. Enough time has passed that some people may actually get nostalgic over another D&D, Mrs. Doubtfire, and apparently this. Even The Bodyguard is supposed to be getting a remake.

Comedy sequels made decades later are never a good idea. Behold the evidence:

- The Odd Couple II
- A Christmas Story 2
- Slap Shot 2: Breaking the Ice
- Bachelor Party 2: The Last Temptation
- Blues Brothers 2000

BUMP

I wonder why Netflix is presenting this? Maybe they have Part 3 actually in the works. I’d be surprised if a Disney allowed that though.

For a second I thought they were dropping a third film out of nowhere. A reunion is still kinda cool I guess.

re: Father of the Bride Part 3

I was wondering why this was bumped, I recently re-watched the first and second on Netflix (I believe I saw part one in theaters as a lot of folks did at the time making it a bit of a hit) but I think I never saw the 2nd in theaters and for what it is I enjoyed the second film as well. Neither film was ever meant to be a comedy/dramedy masterpiece so they were fun watches and I do like the cast in each film. Folks, I think I saw both films on Netflix but could be confused and it was Disney+ where I watched.

I think I will actually check out the re-union on Netflix as it sounds like it will be fun to watch. I also did a double-take and thought part 3 was being dropped on Netflix tomorrow as a surprise. That would have been awesome but yeah...at this point it would be a Disney+ film so Netflix would not be involved in an actual Father Of The Bride Part 3.

That mini movie was very charming. Good to see the Banks family again.

I’m not seeing it on Netflix yet. Dropping at a later time?

It's on Netflix's YouTube and Facebook page.

FYI it's 36 minutes and shot entirely on Zoom. I know some here aren't a fan of that format. .

The video that dex14 posted is the mini movie.

I don’t think it was actually shot on zoom, but just made to look that way. Since this was made in advance, a lot of companies are shipping out iPhone Pros and some additional gear to actors and having them shoot it so it looks decent. Then they add the virtual call graphics in post.

Re: Father of the Bride Part 3

If this was a full length movie I could not see it being released in the theaters even if there was no pandemic since the audience would not be there.

Yeah you're right. Now that I think about it, the scenes inside the "Zoom" box were pretty high quality HD. Zoom would look like shit. I assume Parks did something similar.

We've been doing it in sports too sending iPhones to talents homes and they set it up to look like a professional camera inside their house for them to do their reporting.

This was done as a charity fundraiser. It was only 36 minutes, so it was a short term job for everyone involved.

If they actually did a real movie, it would have likely gone to Disney +

Re: Father of the Bride Part 3

I think a third film, if released in theatres and around the holidays, would make bank.

Re: Father of the Bride Part 3

I think a third film would do well enough in theaters. Decent family rom-com with a likable cast. I’d definitely see it.
