Can someone explain Friday the 13th part 5

It is an understanding that , btw MAJOR spoilers for like what the whole movie revolves around if one has not seen it….

……..but the fact is that well it remains to be said that Tommy or whatever his name was, the main character who shacks up with all the others is actually a crazy person and for some reason dons a Hockey mask (?) to annihilate people with it.

1.How does this correlate with Jason Vorhees? And are they somehow sharing a mental connection or have previous relationships?

2.As "Jason" he looks, well really different than just his 90210 physique but has the husky appearance: How does this happen?

3.I forgot how this movie ends but does he go down or does he live -- because i know part 6 just decided to have him be an UnDead figure in order to continue the series from Part 1-4.

Tommy is not killing people. It's the ambulance medic from the beginning of the movie. He's the father of the fat guy who gets killed in the beginning, and seeing his son murdered by one of the crazies at the farm causes him to go crazy and kill the other crazies. It's really stupid.

Re: Can someone explain Friday the 13th part 5

Tommy isn't killing as Jason. The fat kid at the half way house who eats the candy bars and is hacked to pieces is the estranged son of the ambulance driver who discovers his sons body. This makes the ambulance drive lose his mind. He dons the Jason Voorhees myth and persona as his own and starts killing people as Jason. At the end he is killed and its revealed who he really is. Tommy is placed in the hospital at the end and puts on the mask. He has apparently lost his mind and its implied that he may or may not kill the female head of the halfway house. The only time the real Jason Voorhees appears in the film is arguably the scenes where Tommy sees him in his head, and the opening scene with Corey Feldman.

Friday the 13th 6: Jason Lives brings back the Tommy Jarvis character, but doesn't resolve the ending of part 5. Also its a new actor playing Jarvis.

To be fair, the "gotcha" ending of nearly every Jason movie is ignored in the following sequel.

This is because even though actor Dick Weiand plays Roy and is supposed to be the killer, it's actually stuntman Tom Morga behind the mask in 99% of the scenes. The two of them have wildly different body types. They might as well have had Dom DeLuise play Roy and Arnold Schwarzenegger do all the "Jason" scenes.

Part 5? Part 4 was called The Final Chapter, so I assumed it ended there.

And Jason Goes to Hell was subtitled "The Final Friday" but it didn't end there either.

It almost did. Most fans apparently hate that film, and didn't it do less business than expected at the box office?

Well it was profitable, and did gross a little more than its predecessor, but probably wasn't as successful as they hoped for. And it's pretty universally reviled amongst fans. For most people it's a toss up whether Part 5 or Jason Goes to Hell is the worst entry of the series.

Jason X was my least favorite entry. I know a lot of people loved that one but I couldn't stand it. It screamed bad TV-movie to me. It had one good kill.

Who cares what the worst one was, as long as we agree that part 4 was the best.

It's also important to know that Tommy was the one who 'killed' Jason in the previous film, so that's why he's having mental issues/visions related to Jason.

Part 5 was called A New Beginning.

I always thought Jason being revived by a bolt of lightning was stupid until Freddy was resurrected by dog peeing fire.

I would put 4,5, and 6 as the best films in the series. Part 5 has a certain sleazy feel to it, but I always enjoy it.

Don't get me wrong, I love the first 8 movies, they've always been guilty pleasures of mine. I always try to watch a couple of them on a Friday the 13th, we have one this Friday! I just think the whole twist and identity of the real killer thing is mega stupid, and it is, that doesn't mean I don't have fun watching it though.

Yeah, X is my favorite because it makes fun of itself and the series.

I really enjoyed X as well. Total cheesy craziness and it was all hilarious.

How is it stupid. It's the perfect crime (until he died)
Guy finds out his kid is killed at a loony bin by another kid. Rather than just kill as himself he uses the "legend" of Jason Voorhees as a cover. He probably thought he would get his revenge and that would be that and nobody would suspect it was him.

This is probably my second favorite in the series. It's so bizarre and the kids are actually likable.

An ambulance driver is a trained medic, he spends his life trying to help save people, he sees people die all the time. But he discovers his estranged son dies and it's enough to cause him to snap and start murdering innocent people. It doesn't make any sense, it's just really bad motivation. People were expecting Jason, or at least Tommy snapping and doing the killings. Tommy has the motivation to snap because he's been through something truly traumatizing, it's more satisfying from a story telling perspective. Instead they do a twist with a character who is not actually a part of the narrative. Once again, I still enjoy the movie, but that twist is pretty weak.

The UNRATED version of Jason Goes to Hell is awesome.
