How is the 3D? I'm seeing that version tomorrow.

I put it about the same as Minority Report, although this one is more mindless and action packed.

Minority Report, Oblivion, and Edge of Tomorrow would make for a great triple-feature.

Saw it last night. Loved it. One of Cruise's best in years. Might see it again in 3D if it's not a post-conversion.

Anyway, hoping to see Emily Blunt in more stuff. She's so good in this that I'm curious what her next roles will be.

Oh, and another scene that was pretty hilarious was when Cruise got smashed up against the wall during the training simulation and broke his back. I think he said something like "I can only only feel my lips." That was great.

Full Metal Bitch... Indeed.

I really did like this one.

Just a very unique film. I loved seeing how his character went through the same day in different manners and in different moods. I felt bad for that fat fuck at one point cuz of Cage.

I liked how his attitude towards her wasn't the immediate connection but one that happens due to the repeated interaction. Thought that was very unique in terms of making a relationship with a person.

Pretty good flick. Not as good as the new X-Men, but a lot better than Godzilla. Although the story was predictable, it was fun and well-paced. Worth checking out.

As much as I liked Godzilla and X-Men EOT was much better than both of those.

Eh I wouldn't go that far. To me Days of Future Past is the best of the summer so far and one of my favorite films this year. Godzilla was good fun but not quite as awesome as I wanted it to be. I would say that Edge of Tomorrow was a pleasant surprise though.

I'm curious to see how Age of Extinction and Guardians of the Galaxy will stack up against the rest of the summer films.

Ditto. DoFP was better. But EoT was a pretty cool take on the repeating day process.

Saw it. Loved it. Also saw DoFP on the same day and greatly preferred this one.

I assumed the All You Need is Kill title was a pun or some sort of in-universe sci-fi military lingo or something. But I'm just shooting in the dark, it could very well be some sort of mistranslation. Maybe I'm just jumping to conclusions based on the Japanese name of the author, but I did get a mecha-anime vibe from some of the suit designs and such. Ah, Bill Paxton, always so much fun!

Just saw it and I was locked in and was hooked. I really enjoyed it and it's the best movie this year IMO

In a more formulaic movie the hero would have been Kid Blue, and he would have saved the day, but in this movie he gets taken out unceremoniously. Willis/Levitt's character is actually kind of the villain, it's an interesting movie.
I don't think it was entirely misrepresented the trailers. It's not a Michael Bay-type shoot'em up, but marketing it as an action movie isn't technically lying, it does have some action scenes and a sort of Chase movie structure. The real joys (or failings, depending on your POV) though are the plot twists and turns. I can see where the Inception comparisons come into play, since it has the puzzle box logic and and information overload-style script.

And liking something from a movie doesn't automatically negate the movie being bad. The opening action sequence of Legend of the Fist is a lot of over-the-top fun. That doesn't stop the rest of the movie being a chore.
It's amazing that a movie with so much of Donnie Yen beating the shit out of people can be so dull.

I hope this thing has legs in the US, but I kind of doubt it.

Wish he'd do a few more supporting roles in some interesting films.

I still look forward to seeing this.

The Blu-ray can't come out fast enough! I'd go so far as to say that it's one of my top-10 favorite flicks of the year.

I agree. Godzilla has that not very compelling human character thing and X-Men sort of lags in the middle. Edge of Tomorrow is engaging through and through.

WB, right? They haven't impressed me in the features lately but I'd like to know more about how they did those suits and how it was to work in it. Saying that... We will get that but in like 8 mins. Lol.

Cruise and Blunt were on the Graham Norton show this week, and Blunt said each suit weighed about 80 lbs.

Since you liked this better than DoFP, I'm interested in knowing what your Top 10 is so far.

I personally can't name 10 favorites from this year.

Just got back from this. My son and I liked it a lot. Good action, nice pace and Emily Blunt.

My top-10 in no particular order (it will change since I do a year-end one in December) are:

The Raid 2
Captain America 2
Sabotage
Edge of Tomorrow

La Danza de la Realidad (Dance of Reality)
Noah
300: Rise of an Empire
X-Men - DOFP
(just cuz I think EOT is better does not mean I didn't like DOFP, because I did like it a lot)
Non-Stop
3 Days to Kill

Yeah, in looking at that list, outside of Jodorowski's latest, there really isn't much of substance to it. I enjoyed all of those flicks. I will also say that 80% of that list will be totally different by year's end anyway. Fuck, Jan-June has been pretty shallow. Oh well.

I've also watched a bunch of retrospective films and special presentations but those obviously don't count as part of my top-10.

Loved this movie. Not perfect but what is, and good enough and will probably be in my top 10 movies for the year.

Yeah but I want to see them work in those suits on set or in training. That'd be cool to see a good chunk of.
