I was deciding last night which film to watch and I thought this would make a good poll. Which of QT's last two films do you like better? I prefer IB. Personally I feel it's his 2nd best after Pulp Fiction.

I think the basement scene in IB is one of the best QT's ever written.

I do like Django Unchained though, just didn't have the impact at Basterds did.

They are both extremely good films. It's hard to decide. But I will say that I have a very large DVD collection, once I watch a movie it will be 3 to 5 years before I watch it again. But after I watched django i was so blown away I watched it again just 5 days later. I can't think of another film I wanted to revisit that soon

IB, maybe for the basement scene alone.

I liked the humor in Django so went with that.

IB by a huge margin. Django Unchained is QT's weakest film, in my opinion, barely edging out Death Proof.

IMO Inglourious Basterds is QT's best post-Jackie Brown film.

The more I think about it, the more I agree with this. Lots of good stuff in Django but overall something just didn't click for me.

Django is good, but IB is a goddamned masterpiece.

Saw both in theaters and both were highlights of my moviegoing in the 21st century. I have both on DVD but haven't re-watched either yet (they're both so damn long). So I don't know which I prefer. The enthusiastic audience reaction to DJANGO (packed house at Noon on Christmas, all black except me) was part of the experience. IB was in a great theater (the Ziegfeld) but the audience reaction wasn't memorable. I'd need to see both again. Some sixth sense tells me it would be DJANGO because of the amazing dialogue and Waltz's impeccable delivery. "For those of you who are astronomy aficionados, the North Star is that one."

Django is a more rewatchable movie, IB is a better movie.

Could you go into detail about your Django experience. Anything interesting with reactions?

This is why I went with Django, since the poll is about personal preference. I mean, Citizen Kane is a masterpiece, but I'm still going to take down Ford's Stagecoach from the shelf a helluva lot more often.

IBs all the way and I agree that Django is Tarantino's weakest movie. The last half hour needed trimming , the music choices were bad (I'm still shocked by this), and I didn't care about Django the character. He was underdeveloped and it would of required a better actor than Jaime Fox to pull it off.

IBs was awesome all around and I felt it was a triumph in utilizing multiple foreign languages in a mainstream movie.

What about the music in DU didn't you like?

I didn't like the contemporary music, especially the Hip-Hop stuff, and I felt those music cues were out of place. For example, during the shootout at Candy's plantation when the Rick Ross song played it was such an eye rolling experience. Red Dead Redemption has the best music I've heard in a western in years and that was a videogame too, so my hopes were high that the music in Django would deliver too.

I thought it worked fine. The Jim Croce song worked well too.

Only seen each of them once, so could change upon 2nd viewing, but I thought IB dragged a bit & didn't do a great job connecting the disparate stories (unlike Pulp Fiction, which is a masterpiece IMO).

And I'm a big fan of Resistance-setting flicks.

Only T. film I didn't care for was Death Proof.

DU is much better for fun viewing that IB. I like IB a lot, but DU is a straight up hero's journey movie that doesn't jump around in narrative like other QT flicks. Not that I mind that, but it's good to see a QT movie that doesn't go off on tangents.
