Love both films but IB has a slight lead. Nothing in DU can touch the opening or basement scenes in IB.

Inglourious Basterds is a great film. Django Unchained is a very good film but doesn't quite reach greatness.

Re: Inglourious Basterds vs Django Unchained

Inglourious Basterds is my favorite Quentin Tarantino film and Django Unchained is my 2nd least favorite. (I do like it though)

For the record:

1 Inglourious Basterds
2 Resevoir Dogs
3 Jackie Brown
4 Pulp Fiction
5 Kill Bill 1&2
6 Django Unchained
7 Death Proof.

Was there a single song in IG that wasn't an anachronism? It's not like Cat People got a 35-year-early release in France.

IG is probably my least listened to of QT's soundtracks. Probably because it has the least pop music and the most use of other films' scores as its score.

Well, it seems that most agree on one thing:

Death Proof is at the bottom of the QT list.

I may not be a fan of most contemporary music, or even the genres they belong to, but I thought they worked really fucking well.

I love Death Proof, but in terms of content alone it's at the bottom of the Tarantino list, it's just a very simple movie compared to his other ones.

With good reason . Not even the extended cut made that movie above average. What's sad is that they did next to nothing with Stuntman Mike after introducing him. All we got was two sets of (mostly annoying) girls chatting it up with some rather boring chase scenes.

Huh?

They basically gave him his own creepy intro as he stalks the girls. It pretty much tells you it was no accident that he had found his targets and that they weren't a random pic at the bar.

The chase scenes are anything but boring. Zoe Bell rocks.

I wasnt lamenting about the literal use of contemporary music in Tarantino's period pieces. I just didn't like Django's soundtrack.

Totally. Say what you will about all that girl talk, which I actually enjoyed, but anything with cars speeding was awesome.

Fucking stunts were awesome. Camera work for them was badass too. Especially that bit where the camera fucks up on following Mike and it just turns to Mike again once it could find him.

I choose IB for the original question. I really like Death Proof through up to the toe tickling scene, then it becomes weaker.

I am not sure it edges out Death Proof, it just has better acting. I didn't really care that much for Django at all. I liked IB quite a bit, but that is not QTs best either.

Re: Inglourious Basterds vs Django Unchained

I like the 3hr cut of Django to the theatrical cut. However, I also like Inglourious Basterds more than the theatrical cut of Django. So, in regards to the poll question: IB > DU, but I liked the longer cut of Django over both.

You have not seen a 3 hour cut of Django because THERE ISN'T ONE.

The original cut, shown at test screenings and several other events, which has Jamie Foxx in all his uh, glory? runs 3 hours long and is not available for purchase or rental. It has been referenced repeatedly since before Django was released in theaters. Several talk show hosts referenced that version while Foxx was promoting it as well.

I agree with this, too. DU definitely had more funny lines. I remember watching it with a packed house and that scene with him riding the horse through town had the whole audience laughing so hard and they we're mostly black.

I enjoyed both films but i could better identify and connect to Django which made it a better film to me.

I beg to differ. Especially with Quentin sitting behind me at our studio screening.
