'Fatal Attraction' question
So I was just watching this on Netflix and have a continuity question.
After Douglas and Close have dinner toward the beginning of the movie, we cut to a scene of them having sex in a kitchen. I think it's her kitchen (it's obviously not his). After this scene, they go dancing.
After dancing, they are shown coming to her apartment building, and there is an exchange where she says, "This is my place" and he says, "You live here?" as if they've never been there.
It's not a huge deal, but I'm baffled as to who's place they went to initially. Any ideas?

I know his wife and daughter were out of town. But the layout of that kitchen (during the first sex scene) is completely different from the one in his apartment. It looks more like hers (especially the all-white decor). Yet, two scenes later, he acts like he's never been there.

Just checked IMDB (I know, I know), and it is listed under the Goofs section for this movie. They definitely have their first tryst at her apartment, go dancing, and then later the same day when they return, he acts as though it's first time seeing her place. Odd.

Maybe he thought she wouldn't have taken him to her actual place of residence. When she said it was her place he was like what the hell you live here, when I have random flings with women I don't take them to my actual home.

I guess, maybe... but then one has to wonder what their conversation was like between the restaurant and her apartment. At some point one of them had to suggest where they were going to go do the deed, and she had to have said, "My place." Otherwise, what random apartment did he think she took him to?

Agreed. I think Close gives a killer performance, but man, she is scary from scene one. I'm sure men cheat on their beautiful wives all the time, but cheating on Archer with Close? Does not compute.

Archer is the respectable one you marry and have great sex with. Close is the wild fucking ride in the sack you do anything you want to once then move on. She oozed raw sexuality in the movie early on before it was shown she was a nut bar.

Re: 'Fatal Attraction' question
Has the original version every been available on home video? The version with Close committing suicide in a way that frames Douglas for her murder in order to get even with him for dumping her. Then Archer is running around getting evidence to clear her husband of the murder charge. Read that it was test screened and audiences didn't like it. Always been curious to see it.

During the editing of the film, it was probably decided that for them to have sex sooner would better communicate the wild and spontaneous passion of the hook-up.
Also that tweak communicates something about Close's character as a "wild card" personality. It is one thing to give it up after a whole night of wining and dining and dancing. It is another thing to drop your panties in the middle of the date.

Seems like a continuity error. I think they should re-edit the scene with an updated CGI background to fix it. I don't see why anyone would have a problem with that.
