'Captain America: The Winter Soldier' Directors to Return for Third Installment

Anthony and Joe Russo directed "Winter Soldier," which will open April 4.
With buzz for Captain America: The Winter Soldier building, Marvel Studios is taking the unusual step of locking in directors for a third Captain America movie.
Marvel is in early discussions to bring back Anthony and Joe Russo -- who are in post on Winter Soldier ahead of its April 4 release date -- into the director's chairs for the next installment.
No writer is hired yet but Marvel is hoping to keep the mojo of Winter Soldier going by having the Russos involved in the development of the story. The company usually waits for opening weekend box-office numbers before moving on hiring key creative talent, but its aggressive plans for its Phase Three slate as well as the strong early word on the movie have sparked the early overtures.
Chris Evans will be returning as the titular hero.
Marvel had no comment on development.
The Russos are repped by WME.

Yeah, I have a feeling Winter Soldier is gonna really rock hard and the studio already saw the cut and signed up the boys for another chapter. Fine with me.

The comic storyline that followed Winter Soldier was Civil War with the Death of Captain America. I wonder if they would ever go there in the movies? They couldn't adapt Civil War completely of course since they don't have the rights to X-Men, FF, and Spidey, but phase 3 is supposedly going to introduce many new superhumans like Ant-Man and Doctor Strange. Maybe with the superhuman crowd getting so large, superhuman registration acts begin to happen...

wow jumping the gun here ... guess they think Winder Soldier will be a guarantee hit - I'm personally psyched about the new one so, yeah bring on the third film!!

Saying that... I really liked it as an idea. Not so much in execution.

they really though need a Dolby consultant in mixing their films in Atmos though - Iron Man 3 and Thor 2 were aurally pedestrian and unimaginative.
