Better than the world ending in Thor 2 and not a team member in sight.

i think that's why it was a good move to put Antman between AoU and Civil War; like a little breather before shit hits the fan.

Among the Marvel films, the first two CA films are my favorites, so I am sure I will see this one. Maybe I am suffering from Iron Man/RDJ burnout more than anything.

I was actually wondering if the box office might take a hit because people see it as just a Cap movie instead of Avengers 2.5 (based on name, not seeing trailer, etc)

I mean, it will still make a shitload of money, but likely would make more just based on the Avengers name.

Right. I've said before at this point having a Superhero solo film where other heroes seemingly don't exist is ridiculous.

The days of one hero existing in a film universe are OVER.

God. The Thor films are the worst. They need to get a good script in.

It's not wrong either. Just depends on the scope of the story. The problem w/ films is that unlike comics... the spread of activity for these heroes isn't really a lot to take in. In the comics, it's totally reasonable for at times it literally just being a solo hero or a few heroes just taking on some big thing. There's so many characters being busy doing whatever that.. they may not have a chance to join in.

Though it is valid to point at some Marvel films and question wtf was happening w/ everyone else during THIS or THAT event when we see that apparently not much is going on at times.

Another piece contributing to our perception of this may actually be the times we live in. In comic history, Spidey could be doing his thing in NYC while someone is fighting a big bad on the west coast. How would spidey have even known it was going on?

But in today's 24-hour-news-cycle, social-media-connected world, we'd expect that all heroes would know of EVERYTHING happening.

Yeah, the Thor movies are easily the worst of the MCU movies (well, I kind of enjoyed the scenes on Asgard in the first one).

Re: Captain America: Civil War (2016) (D: The Russo Bros) - News, Rumors, Cast

Based on Rotten Tomatoes... Cap 1 (barely) edges out Thor 1. If you believe such things...

Thor 1 excelled when it was in Asgard. Both films do. The concept and ideas of Thor on Earth are better than the execution.

Always hated how cheap and quick it feels right before he gets Mjolnir.

Too much humor too.

When your constant villain is so much better than the hero.. you've got a problem. Most of that is Hiddleston, I'd guess. But I care about the Thor films more for Loki than Thor. He's just that much more interesting in his arcs than our God of Thunder.

I thought both Cap 1 and Thor 1 were just ok on first viewing. On subsequent viewings I've grown to think more of Cap 1 and less of Thor 1. Just my subjective opinion.

You're insane and have zero taste. Cap1 was better than Thor 1 in every single way that can be measured (save for maybe Hiddleston).
Thor was a straight up bad movie, Marvel's 2nd worst after Incredible Hulk.

I enjoy Asgard. I detest damn near everything Midgard in Thor 1. And yes... Hiddleston is the best thing in that film and the 2nd one. It's not Thor. Thor's shit in his films.

Thor 1's biggest flaw is that he spent more time without his powers than with them. While it had some funny "fish out of water" scenes, overall it wasn't a great superhero flick. I liked it in general, although I enjoyed Cap 1 more.

Thor 2 is worse but somehow I enjoyed that more than Thor 1. Probably cuz Loki and more Asgard shit going on. Also.. it just looks better than Thor 1. I KNOW why it looks the way it looks but I think it was a bad choice in a lot of things w/ Thor 1.

Thor's solo films are the weak links in the MCU by far.

I don't know what you guys talking about, the first Thor was a great film. Loki was a fully fleshed out character, not just a typical villain. The part where Thor finally makes it back to Mjolnir only to find he can't lift it:

Great stuff.

Thor: The Dark World was boring. Even though they gave Elba more scenes, they somehow made Heimdall seem less God-like.

Speaking of Thor....

Spoiler:
Anyone else think we will see the life model decoy Thor in this fight?

Damn, that is the Romita Spidey rought to life.

But on the other hand, having the classic/definitve look for Spider-Man looks sort of odd with the "cyberpunk" look that most of the other characters have.

The First Avenger was the best of the phase one solo films. The Winter Soldier was the best of the phase two solo films. And Civil War looks like the film Age of Ultron should have been.

The First Avenger was not better than Iron Man 1. Not by a loooong shot.
