I wonder why American Hustle is classified as a comedy? I thought it was supposed to be a drama with a touch of humor, like Silver Linings Playbook.

Wasn't SLP nominated in the musical or comedy category last year?

Monster's University doesn't even get a nomination? Is this the first time ever that a Pixar film wasn't even nominated in the Animated Film category?

Re: 71st annual Golden Globes Film nominations

I was really hoping Harrison Ford would get some 'buzz' this year for that great supporting performance in '42' - alas, it looks like Ford will be one of those actors who sold a lot of popcorn, but never got any recognition for it (although I guess the Globes have nominated him a number of times, and gave him the Cecil B. DeMille Award a number of years back).

I too, am stunned by RUSH getting any noms. Maybe just to get Thor to show up?

I'd classify SLP as a comedy. All 'comedies' don't have to be jokey.

It might have happened before Pixar existed.

Except that the category didn't exist until 2007.

I think Disney poached all the good Pixar talent and have them working on the "Disney" branch of movies. Frozen was leaps and bounds better than Monsters Inc.. But to be fair, Planes was complete garbage (probably the worst film I've seen this year...and I've seen Lone Ranger).

Yeah, for Best Actress in a Comedy. Before Midnight is an incredible film, and has some funny scenes, but it's a drama through and through.

Cate Blanchett better start dusting off her shelf. She's going to get a lot of hardware in the next few months.

She should. I thought she was brilliant in a very very good film.

Pleased to see Philomena and Rush up there, Philomena is the best film I've seen this year.
