I honestly thought the direction was the worst part of Finding Neverland and Kite Runner, and Quantum of Solace was a disaster, but I suppose to each their own. He's good with visuals and editing effects, not so good on making me actually care about what's going on on the screen.

I actually enjoyed the first one, hadn't read the book and went in with pre-conceived, Internet bred "This is going to suck" attitude. I will give this one a chance also. And actually get around to reading the book.

I liked the first in the theater, but the unrated cut on blu really kicks it up a notch, despite not adding major scenes.

I saw the unrated Blu and not much stuck out at me as being different. There were a few bits I noticed
, but given that the runtime difference was several minutes, I couldn't figure out most of what had been added. Mostly, having listened to Kermode on the BBC podcast, I now forever associate the annoying endless Z/Zed arguments that they had
.

Pretty much anything they cut away from in the theatrical, they showed in the unrated. The stairwell sequence was considerably more gory. Along with the first Phily attack scene. Gorier plane attacks and some head smashes in the WHO facility. And the hand chop, of course. Finally, if I'm not mistaken, once the plane leaves Israel, Lane looks out the window and sees the chaos down below... in the unrated, they go back down and show some more close up destruction.
I'm sure I missed some.

Yeah. I liked WWZ. Could've had more of strong script but it was fun.
Soooooo... I thought they beat the Zombie virus? Guess a scientist drops a blood sample, gets cut, and the virus is back.

Nope, a grey haired T-800 who came from the future and has been hanging around in the past for 30 years clones Ellen Ripley who's blood is contaminated by the virus and gives birth to a zombie xenomorph.

I thought they just had figured out the "camouflage" effect of the zombies ignoring sick people. If that ever changed with the zombies attacking them even when sick, then there's the start of a sequel.

For anyone that's curious about the Unrated version, Netflix did something right and added both World War Z and World War Z Unrated to streaming today.

It was revealed back in 2013 that Brad Pitt will be reprising his role as Gerry Lane for an upcoming (still untitled) sequel to World War Z with The Impossible‘s Juan Antonio Bayona attached to direct. Today, Paramount Pictures has revealed that World War Z 2 will be waged on June 9, 2017. That’s the same day that 20th Century Fox has earmarked for its planned Fantastic Four 2.
Locke writer and director Steven Knight will be providing the screenplay for World War Z 2 withPitt again serving as producer.

Movie-Censorship website has a comparison of the differences between the theatrical and unrated versions of the first film.

I saw the unrated cut when it came out on video after seeing the regular one at the cinema, and to be honest, apart from a few splashes of violence, nothing really stood out to me as different.
I sort of hope this doesn't come out, if I have to listen to the "World War Zed" nonsense on the BBC again, I'm going to want to get on a boat and go punch them.

'World War Z' Sequel Moves Forward After 'Jurassic World 2' Drama (Exclusive)
World War Z sequel is back on track and moving forward with a new writer.
Dennis Kelly, the creator of the buzzy British show Utopia, has been enlisted for the latest draft of the Brad Pitt starrer. J.A. Bayona is squarely on board to direct, though rumors surfaced recently that his involvement was on thin ice after being eyed to direct the Jurassic World follow-up. Sources say there was little Bayona could do given that he has a holding deal for World War Z 2, but the Jurassic World 2 overtures helped light a flame under Paramount to keep Bayona happy and get a new script in motion with the fanboy-friendly writer. Skydance Productions is co-producing and co-financing the film.
Kelly will pick up from an earlier draft penned by Steven Knight (Burnt).
The first World War Z, which was directed by Marc Forster and released in 2013, was fraught with problems during production, with expensive re-shoots taking place after test audiences complained about the third act. But the movie, which was based on Max Brooks' novel of the same name and written by Matthew Michael Carnahan, Drew Goddard and Damon Lindelof (J. Michael Straczynski received story by credit), became a box-office hit, earning $540 million worldwide, and spawned sequel plans.
World War Z 2 is scheduled for release on June 9, 2017. Pitt is producing alongside Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner, Ian Bryce and Skydance's David Ellison.
Kelly caught Hollywood's attention after creating Utopia, the Channel 4 series about a small group of people who find themselves in possession of the manuscript sequel of a cult graphic novel called The Utopia Experiments, which is rumoured to have predicted the worst disasters of the last century. David Fincher and Gillian Flynn were collaborating on a U.S. remake of the series for HBO, but that fell apart over budget issues (HBO still owns the U.S. remake rights).

Still not sure how to continue after how WWZ ended. I still would love to see the cut footage from WWZ. That russian storyline part sounds crazy awesome to see cuz it forced to reshoot.

Re: World War Z Part 2 - (2017, D: Bayona) S: Pitt
While I enjoyed the movie, it was a far cry from the potential for an adaptation of the source material. Will I be there for a sequel? Yes. Would I still much rather have an HBO series? Hell yes.
