Yea. #3 was quite good.

I would say that it's the most serious and least "fun" out of everything in the poll.

Re: Most "Fun" Horror Film Franchise?

While Scream has the meta factor going for it, I have a soft spot for the Final Destination flicks. They just make for fun movies.

I've never had a thing for slasher flicks so most of the options just don't appeal to me. I can't believe anyone would think torture porn is "fun" either. Entertaining? Sure, but fun? I don't see it.

I know Evil Dead is revered but as mentioned above, the first is uber serious and the third is total campiness. Never saw the second. Maybe that's the missing piece I need to appreciate those films.

I'll also toss out Candyman since no one has mentioned it yet.

Yeah, there's five total. The Exorcist, Exorcist II: The Heretic, The Exorcist III, Exorcist: The Beginning, and Dominion: Prequel to The Exorcist. The original and the third are the best. Dominion is okay too.

I wish there was a market to properly finish the post production on Dominion and rerelease it on DVD.

Agreed. Nothing fun about the first one at all. I love it, but it's perhaps the most disturbing film I've seen.

I went with Scream, but perhaps should have voted Final Destination.

Re: Most "Fun" Horror Film Franchise?

As far as fun horror franchise goes, I almost chose Puppet Master, but thought about it and instead chose 'Other' with Phantasm being my personal favorite fun horror franchise even if the ending of Oblivion didn't give me the closure that it should have. We need one more to wrap it up...

Only you would know the answer. Do you like the movie or not? Pretty simple.

Say, was the uncut version ever released on Blu-Ray?

I'd probably bat for the Alien franchise, which not counting the AVP stuff has at least had very interesting directors attached to each installment, or maybe Romero, who has nice B-movie flair and a great sense of intelligence to go with it. The Scream movies are pretty smart and fun too, for the most part, and Craven has been involved with all of them.

I thought it did get released? I'd be more interested in the long-legendary cut of Legion with the missing footage, but apparently that's lost forever.

For sheer fun, Evil Dead must take the cake, Raimi has a flair that few do and the movies are a blast.

I heard a long time ago that the ending of Scream 2 was leaked and they had to rewritten the ending like two months before the movie release date, I've been too lazy to see how it was originally supposed to end but I think I might Google it now.

Never been a fan of the Scream movies. The first one is more dated now than the films it spoofs.

I'd like to reach through my monitor, go back in time and stab the original "Scream" movie right in the eye.

Nowhere NEAR as clever or original as it thought it was, so utterly in love with itself, and spawned a host of lame PG-13 high school/teen-based horror flicks for years afterward.

Pretty much. I love horror movies but I despised the late 90s WB network slashers.

I dunno they aren't my favorite films but I still enjoy them for what they are. Scream 3 is the only one I don't care that much for but the others are decent enough. I agree they aren't as clever as they think they are but they're fairly entertaining.
