The Conjuring or You're Next?

total self serving thread, and I accept the ridicule... but, rarely get to go to the movies anymore... have the chance tomorrow... out of these two, which would you suggest I see?

They are two VERY different takes on the horror genre, but they are both great, so I get your dillema.

If you're in the mood for a moody, spooky horror film with lots of tension and cathartic releases, The Conjuring is for you.

If you're in the mood for a fun, sometimes scary, always exciting horror film in the vein of Tucker & Dale, Cabin in the Woods, and in some ways maybe Scream, go see You're Next.

Really though you can't go wrong with either.

Great to hear! Heading out to see it tonight.

And yeah, all depends on what kind of horror mood you're in. I thought The Conjuring was fantastic.

Only seen The Conjuring and it was good and creepy. Going to see You're Next this weekend though so if you need a date...

Really enjoyed both, but You're Next was one of the best movie going experiences of recent memory.

Re: The Conjuring or You're Next?

both are good, but not great. I'd check both out if you can. They're 2 completly different kinds of horror movie.

I'd compare them as follows though:

Insidious is about equal to the Conjuring.

You're Next is better than The Strangers.

Thats what kind of film each film is in my eyes.

If I had to pick one of the two though, I'd say see You're Next and wait a couple weeks and then go see Insidious 2.

The thread title sounds like a threat. I don't respond well to threats!

Re: The Conjuring or You're Next?

caught You're Next and the wifey and I had a blast with it... I'm sure we'll see The Conjuring at home some point, but wanted to go with something that wasn't a "slow burner" of a movie. thanks for everyone's input.

Re: The Conjuring or You're Next?

I think it was tough for most to recommend either one since You're Next is so new most haven't had a chance to see it. We're going to a movie today and not sure if we'll see it or something else. She wanted to see The Conjuring after hearing good reviews but she didn't know much about You're Next.

Glad to hear you both enjoyed it.
