Calling it Now Redford Wins Best Actor
For "All is Lost"
He will get the performance and lifetime achievement nod that his fabled screen mate got for "The Color of Money"
I won a lot of money betting a guy that Newman would win months before the movie ever came out and this is an analagous situation.

He should win for this, but normally people get an Oscar making up for a past time they should have won. Which is why I predict Redford will win in 2015 for Captain America: Winter Soldier.

It would be interesting if he did, since I hear the movie is virtually dialogue-free. His acceptance speech would have more words in it than his performance in the movie does. I think the only time he speaks in the film is on the boat's radio and to scream for help when he spots another ship.

I think Matthew McConaughey has a good shot for The Dallas Buyer's Club. He has really turned his career around the last few years, and sometimes the academy rewards actors that were previously not that highly regarded when they get serious (see Tom Hanks, Sandra Bullock, Julia Roberts, Halle Berry, Nicolas Cage). The dramatic weight loss and subject matter can't hurt his chances.
Redford gets it the following year for A Walk in the Woods.

John Cusack as Richard Nixon is the miscasting of the century.

i hope Sam Rockwell gets nominated and even perhaps a win for The Way, Way Back. too bad it was released in the oft forgotten summer season.
