If it makes you feel better, I actually did think that Miyazaki directed the film.

I cannot believe that I'm doing so well! Hope my good luck holds out!

Still kind of shocked that anyone remembered Bubo, let alone pick it as their favorite Harryhausen creation. Even as a kid I wasn't impressed by Bubo ... seeing it as an R2D2 rip-off (the studio was desperate to have this movie be their Star Wars ... but in togas!)

The audiences for my recent game were much more active on Tuesday than Wednesday so maybe it's just a luck-of-the-draw thing. Hope things pick up tomorrow since it's a lonely thing to be a SM playing by one's self.
I have all the answers, reveals, images, and videos prepared for the rest of the questions. So if I start the game tomorrow and its no one but me, I may say f*** it and finish the whole thing in one enormous post and go off and do something else with the rest of my afternoon

I hope at least everyone who's playing (it's a sizable field of 32) reads through this whole thread at some point, and gets some measure of entertainment from it.

My mind went blank went submitting my answers, I know there are many more goose eggs in my future... When I submitted all I could remember was the argument that a certain popular film was not science fiction, but fantasy...

This has been a cool game, will follow live tomorrow...

Wow, I'm stoked to have gotten the unique on My Neighbor Totero. I'm not a cartoon fan, so I couldn't confidently name one Myizaki movie. Luckily for me, my niece plays the Totero VHS over and over, so I said to myself, "Well, that looks like a Japanese cartoon, better than answering nothing".

Re: One Sheep to Rule Them All: Fantasy Sheep

It's looking like my mental definition of fantasy is way narrower than lots of people's. On the comedy question, Your Highness was the only thing I could think of that fit the bill. If there aren't wizards or magical creatures, I tend not to think of something as falling into the fantasy genre.

Good call. And definitely surprising to be a unique.

But, most important, you should sit down and watch TOTORO with your niece ASAP. It's not only arguably Miyazaki's best film (although tomorrow I may say that about MONONOKE), but it's one of the finest animated films ever made. Everytime I recommend it or lend it to any parent they invariably come back and say they loved it as much as their kids did.

When TOTORO played at the Museum of Modern Art in 1999 as part of the Studio Ghibli retrospective, it coincided with Miyazaki's trip to New York to appear at the New York Film Festival showing of PRINCESS MONONOKE. He only showed up once at MOMA and that was to make a surprise appearance to introduce TOTORO, which indicated to me that that must be his favorite of his own films. No one expected it and when the film curator introduced Miyazaki, the crowd went nuts and jumped to their feet. I was there and it was amazing.

That Filch SD is going to cost me I can see. Nice to be tied for first this far into the game, but I'll be happy with top 5.

Re: One Sheep to Rule Them All: Fantasy Sheep

Just catching up with this one now. I am definitely not in it to win it. Way too many 0's for my liking. All punctuated by the fact that Empire is not classified as fantasy on imdb. Speaking of question 7, mortalplague either had the nicest pull of the game with Groundhog Day, or he's a dirty rotten googler.

Oh, and the "wtf were they thinking" factor definitely jumps up a few notches when there are so many people playing. I think the ones that get me the most are the questions that ask for a favorite. You never answer with your actual favorite!

Just now catching up; I wasn't able to follow the game yesterday. I'm about where I expected to be, given my poor answers on some questions (I really couldn't think of a good answer for #6; if I'd known Bigfoot qualified, I probably would have gone that way).

while yes, it's based on Arthurian legend, I don't really find Holy Grail to be 'fantasy' - except for say the rabbit scene.

Re: One Sheep to Rule Them All: Fantasy Sheep

I'd say Holy Grail has a lot more fantasy elements than the rabbit, it's got witches, three headed giants, enchanters who blow shit up, magical bridgemasters, cave monsters, God appearing in the clouds and demanding a search for a magical cup, time travel...

Re: One Sheep to Rule Them All: Fantasy Sheep

I having fun so far reading the answers and comments in this game. I'm surprised to be doing so well. I botched up questions 6 and 7. And I thought that Porco Rosso would be more obvious and others would ignore it but that didn't happen.

Is it wrong that I'm laughing at some of the bad {sd} use in this game?

...eight score young blondes and brunettes, all between sixteen and nineteen-and-a-half, cut off in a castle bathing, dressing, undressing, knitting exciting underwear.

guess I'm too busy laughing to notice all the fantasy elements and the great classic line

"someday son, all this will be yours!"

"whaaat, the curtains?"

that kills me.

12. S: Game of Thrones is considered by some to be one of the best television fantasy series of all-time. Not counting that series, what do you think is the greatest television fantasy series of all-time?

Re: One Sheep to Rule Them All: Fantasy Sheep

This is one of those of those questions where I knew there could be a big spread of answers. But I was genuinely curious as to what people would answer. And as it turned out, there were a surprisingly low number of non-matching answers.

Which isn't much consolation to these sheep though:

Adventure Time
Giles

Star Trek
hasslein

Supernatural
maxfisher

Xena Warrior Princess

Short of Clash of the Titans I probably should not have bothered with slam dunks in this game.
