Crap, I was going to say Avatar because I figure it gets accused of everything, but couldn't think of a literary source it was copying. Overthinking again.

Ugh you google people can F off If you think that's obscure, go into the Guess That Movie By Screenshot thread. Norm de Plume would pick that one out in a single shot.

This was a mistake on my part, I should have asked for Director plus the movie they won for. By the time I realized this it was too late to ask people for clarification, so I judged the answers solely on the criteria the director named won the best director Oscar for something.

And Speilberg didn't win for Jaws so you would have been marked an incorrect.

I for one would be in favor of marking r2 incorrect and changing mine to a unique.

Re: Shhhh! Book to Film Sheep

The question where I answered The Matrix was the one I intentionally gave a wrong answer. I had no idea what to answer, but I knew of the urban legend about the big lawsuit, and figured someone else might do the same. Well, actually my initial thought was Coming to America (Art Buchwald sued over it), but I thought that wouldn't be sheepy.

I wish you had us specify the director and the film, because my answer for Fred Zinneman was for A Man for All Seasons.

Interestingly enough, The Ten Commandments starts with DeMille on-screen introduction explaining that they stuck with Scripture as best they could before diving into ancient historians' writings. Meanwhile, Jesus Christ Superstar is great but plays fast and loose with the Gospel. Finally, The Last Temptation of Christ (which I really, really enjoy) starts with an on-screen disclaimer to make the distinction that it is not based on the Bible but on the book of the same name. In that regard, I wonder if it counts as a right answer.

This call benefited you, as A Man For All Seasons was based on a play, not a book and would have been incorrect.
