I'm interested. SJ has proven she can kick some ass, and Besson's stuff is always interesting, if a bit uneven.

People on IMDb are speculating that this is a rip off of the anime "Elfen Lied," which was one seriously brutal anime. There was a ton of death and dismemberment in that series, especially the opening. And the main character was named Lucy.
Be curious to see how this plays out.

the last film Besson directed that I enjoyed was Leon. My hopes aren't set too high, so hopefully I'll be surprised. Won't see it in theater though.

Cast with some A-listers, but looks like the kind of B-grade stuff Besson has been taking producer credit on for years. That being said, I must admit that there a certain adolescent appeal in having a sexy actress as superpowered ass-kicker
. Maybe I'll grow up one day....

After seeing Under the Skin last night, I am quite anxious to see ScarJo handle a mainstream movie on her own. I hear that while Marvel has no stake in this one, they will use how it does as a gauge on whether or not to proceed with the Black Widow movie.
I have low expectations but high hopes for this one. Besson's work hasn't been that impressive as of late, but strong female characters seem to be his specialty.

Besson is a bit of an oddity. For a brief period, he was kind of taken seriously in cineaste circles before largely becoming a producer and screenwriter of schlocky Eurotrash action movies like The Transporter, Kiss of the Dragon and so on, but he's more versatile than I credited him for initially-he has producer credits on some much more esoteric stuff like Nil By Mouth, The Source, and The Three Burials of Melquides Estrada.

So, does the movie end with Lucy glowing with white light, realizing that all human strife is petty, and vanishing to a higher plane of existence?
