I saw Jurassic Park in theaters when it came out and was blown away at how cool the effects were. I'm definitely going to take my son to see this on the big screen.

as much as I'd like to see this in IMAX-Digital, I'm edging to see this in standard DCP but with the remixed 7.1 audio over in Reston Virginia next week.

Saw it this morning with my daughter. She loved it. Still awesome after 20 years. The 3D was damn impressive.

was reading on another site a theater owner was stating the audio was problematic - surrounds too loud and aggressive, dialogue volume uneven, etc., anyone else encountering this problem?

- 2D DCP (5.1 or 7.1 mix)?
- 3D DCP (5.1 or 7.1 mix)?
- IMAX 3D DCP?

I'll ask him and find out, he wasn't specific as to which mix he found problematic.

IMAX sounded great to me.

Yeah, you're right. I have t aren't the rerelease yet but the kitchen scenes in the commercials definitely look altered. The shots have a much redder hue than the movie on DVD and Blu-ray. I'll see the 3D version in a few days and double check the actual movie.

I'm very sensitive when it comes to audio. I didn't notice anything that was out of whack like that. I saw a preview of the 3D showing and the only technical problem was that they showed the IMAX on a normal screen so the tops and bottoms of the screen were getting cut off.

in terms of your IMAX screening, how were the top and bottom cut off? - considering JP was a flat (1.85) shot film, on a normal screen this shouldn't occurred at all

from what I'm hearing/reading it seems like the IMAX-D presentations aren't as problematic as 'Raiders of the Lost Ark' which had both PQ and audio flaws. In terms of the latter, the surround channels seemed amped way too much.

(All of the advertising materials in 2012 for JP3D stated IMAX 3D despite Universal and IMAX not officially announcing it until January. I would assume an IMAX release was in the cards since the moment the project got off the ground.)
I don't get the "IMAX version in a regular theater" comment as IMAX uses separate DCPs than your standard DLP projector would use. My IMAX theater has the true 1.4:1 ratio, so I could understand if there were black bars on the top and bottom of the screen. Or if the theater fucked up and accidentally masked the film at 2.40:1.

I saw the Imax version and the only audio "problem" I had was at the beginning of the kitchen scene. The raptor breathing on the glass has always had a big "make you jump" punch and this seemed to lack that. Then again, that could be my 20 year old memory playing tricks on me.
Also, did Spielberg go back and fix the stunt girl's face at some point? When Lex falls through the ceiling tile and looks up I swear it actually looked like her in this release. It was quick though so I could be wrong.

I remember on a 'making of' special that the stunt girl's face was corrected in post-production and digitally corrected.

I thought for IMAX, theres a height center channel speaker - I seem to recall that for Transformers 1 or 2, the IMAX 15/70 'audio' advertised the height channel configurement.
