Did he use the classic Gojira theme at all?

Was that article about the Japanese calling Godzilla fat a joke?
Every version of Godzilla (except the 1998 version) has been fat. In fact, I always thought it was intentional and a cultural thing (as if he was supposed to resemble a sumo wrestler a bit).
Anyway, from what I've seen so far, this is my favorite Godzilla design. He looks like a walking mountain. And you would need legs like tree trunks to support that body. I never bought that the 1998 Godzilla could even stand up with those skinny legs.

Just think of it as not-Godzilla and it's a decent monster flick. Technically, it doesn't even exist anymore because Toho let all "GODZILLA 98" trademarks expire and entered Zilla into their kaiju canon as an imposter monster that attacked America.

That Godzilla ended up killing in Final Wars. Which was funny. I really wanted to like that one.

Screw that, 2014 G is a blimp. Funny how this works, years later I do like that 98 design.......but only as another Toho monster......not as the Big G. I really liked his appearance in Final Wars.
BTW, G has always been tubby, I'll agree. He just never had legs and feet that resemble an elephant.

And what I mean about the legs is that you need something more like the new Godzilla's shape. Godzilla '98 was the size of a building, yet ran around on those skinny toes. I just don't buy it.
The new Godzilla is not fat, he is massive. There's a difference. Anyway, to each his own. I was just looking at the different Godzilla designs throughout the years and, honestly, they were all pretty goofy. The new one is my personal favorite design.

Not sure what country the film is set in, but if he is snacking on Americans and not Japanese he is naturally going to be fatter.
