Nostalgia Chick's Lord Of The Rings Trilogy review

I thought these were pretty good reviews:

Ok gotta say I'm loving these. Just finished the 2nd one. The Frodo Fall Count is hilarious.

Her avatar is hotter than she is. Then again, she knows her shit. I'd let her buy me a drink.

She kind of reminds me of Jeanine Garafolo before she got old, tatooed, angry and bitter.

Is it true that David Bowie wanted to play Elrond? And they put Hugo Weaving in instead? Son of a bitch!

Also, I think she's wrong about Aragorn's conflict being forced. I think it's one of the things that makes the three films work so well.

She's not a hipster enough. She likes these movies enough to analyze them and make and edit a video about them. A hipster would say she was into LOTR before it was cool (in the 60's), then never mention it again. She's pretty anti-hipster. She's a nerd girl.

In my book, nerd girls are hipster girls. They're synonymous.

Then you have no clue what a hipster is. Hipsters are people who try really hard to look like they don't care about things, about their clothes (they dress shabbily but in expensive clothes), about what they drink (Pabst Blue Ribbon!) and most especially pop culture (they claim to only have liked things before people have heard about it).

Nerd girls are nerds...who are girls. They give a shit about nerd things like Star Wars, Star Trek, Lord of the Rings, etc. They wear shirts with things like Doctor Who and Buffy The Vampire Slayer on them. They might be snarky, but it's because they genuinely like the things they're being snarky about. Totally different.

Yes, two different things. Also, it must be pointed out that there are no attractive female nerds. Any of the so-called hot youtube nerdgirls are just fakes trying to get noticed.

There are plenty of nerd-cute nerd girls, though.

Yeah I know what the definition of a hipster is. Personally I think there are very few TRUE nerd girls. I just think that the vast majority of nerd girls are really hipsters in disguise and have chosen "nerdism" as their way of being quirky and different. "Ooh look at me...I don't care about The Bachelor and shoes like other girls. I like Star Trek even though I don't even know who Worf is". They're just pretending to be nerds.

You've never been to a local science fiction convention, have you? Nerdy girls are out there, and some of them are cute. On costume day, they go as scantily-dressed-space-princess. You just have to go to where the nerds congregate to see them.

Back on topic, I liked those reviews. Especially the discussions about enforced PJ conflicts. I hated those.

Re: Nostalgia Chick's Lord Of The Rings Trilogy review

Nostalgia Chick is boring. She's not funny, her sex appeal wears off quickly, and she spends more time whining about feminism than making comedy during her reviews. I guess the chick she hangs out with in the videos ups the ante in her looks somewhat by comparison, but her videos were never very entertaining. She's definitely not Nostalgia Critic, who is hilarious quite often.

Interesting videos, could do without the forced commercials though...

Re: Nostalgia Chick's Lord Of The Rings Trilogy review

Somehow the definition of 'hipster' has changed from something specific to "White person under 40 that I don't like."
