Although, every time I see that prison riot set, I think of Season 3 of Prison Break, and it makes me sad.

Cool, so if they've fired him, can I take his job
?!
Apparently they were developed independently of one another, but there are striking similarities.
He's in good company, Roger Ebert, God rest his soul, said the same thing about the first film, and he's about the biggest film critic you could find anywhere. The violence in these films is slightly pornographic in its explicitness, in spite of how technically accomplished much of it is, I can see it putting some people off.
I often wonder where the line is for film critics? I know I might not be able to handle seeing A Serbian Film, The Human Centipede 2, etc. even if I was paid for it.
Haven't there been a few exploitation movies which have used the vomit-bags gimmick?
?!
I liked the Raid better then Dredd too.
I'm not defending the guy (really), but here's his reasoning:
"The violence in this unrated cut is so relentless, so absolutely brutal, that I just couldn’t take anymore. The snapped bones, shattered skulls and spraying blood walked up to the line of good taste and ripped it apart with the back of a hammer. While athletically and technically impressive, the final fights in ‘The Raid 2′ are so unpleasant that I realized that if I didn’t race out of my seat, I may have vomited in the theater."

While I agree that critics shouldn't walk out of films, if this guy was feeling physical unrest because of what he saw on screen, I think it's GOOD that he walked out when he did.
Plus, "The only critic that didn't like The Raid 2 had to leave the theatre before puking!" is good advertising for the film... in a way.

a nearly 5 minute deleted scene posted called "gang war" (apparently its also NSFW)
http://vimeo.com/90092972
"This is one of a few deleted scenes taken from the film. Reasons to cut were entirely down to pacing issues. This was probably the hardest for me to cut due to the fact that the production on this scene lasted around 6 days of shooting, it cost us a fuck load to make and it served to escalate the gang war out onto the streets involving people outside of the closed off inter-gang politics.
At the end of the day though, after discussing its worth it took us away from the central theme for a little too long with characters that would only exist in this scene alone.
Whenever I edit a film - every scene feels like a precious moment. "No fucking way can I cut this" is a regular phrase I utter at Aram (one of the producers at XYZ Films who patiently worked with me to get the film to it's final cut) but his patience was always a virtue and it's when you make a cut and no longer miss it from the bigger picture a few days down the line that you realise it was the right decision to make.
But I still want you guys to see the chaos and the mayhem we had in store, and so with the release of the film coming in a few days time - here's a sample of one of the action scenes that simply didn't make it.
Enjoy.

Damn.
I have admit that having a director release a deleted scene before a general release here is rather original. Makes me like Evans more cuz he is honest about what didn't work but still wanted to share. Very cool of him.

Yikes, I'm seeing the film first on Saturday, then I will watch this clip. Granted, it's a deleted scene, but i don't want to soil the palette.

I hope so too. Evans is an exciting director.
To make it even crazier. Indonesia has no unions. So they can be allowed to be bolder in how they do shit w/o bs red tape. They worked their asses off in
The last one. This one looks crazier. Evans has joked that he likes no unions cuz he works their asses off.

Is this going to go fully wide or just hit the indie circuit? I remember seeing a poster for the original at my local AMC, but I don't think the movie itself ever came.

Holy shit that trailer looks sick. I really liked the 1st movie and own the BD, but this looks like it could top that movie by a landslide.
It's playing April 11th in Fullerton sort of near where I live. I'm definitely seeing this.
