Saw an ad on the TV where we we're eating last night and the eyes didn't look so bad. Have they reduced the size?

I think the eyes give her an otherworldly look. Zero issues with them. Hope it reviews decently - I'd like it to be good!

I have no problem with the eyes either.

Awkward interview with Christoph Waltz (and Rosa Salazar)

I don't know if this was posted before - but they re-worked the eyes.

BEFORE / AFTER
The eyes are the same size, but the irises and pupils are bigger. I believe by Cameron's request.

If it was Cameron's request. I'm guessing he wasn't that hands on involved with this whole thing, considering every trailer shows her with the bug eyes. At least he watched some of it before it hit theaters.

Well, they did push back the release date a couple of times, and he finished Avatar(s), so he was probably able to scope it out in more detail. I doubt he was hovering over Rodriguez's head.

He finished filming all 4 sequels? Had no idea, thought I read that was going on for quite a while.

At any rate, I haven’t seen any trailers or commercials that show the updated eyes.

I thought he finished principal photography and they were moving with the CGI for however many years that would take. I don't fucking know anymore.

Think I will go see this in IMAX 3D with my AMC Stubs A-List -- but asking the family, it looks like I will be going by myself.

It seems they've only filmed Avatar 2 & 3 so far: https://deadline.com/2018/11/james-c...ic-1202502044/

Advance/Free Screening closest to where I am is sold out. Fairly typical, as they are usually done at the AMC Metreon or AMC Van Ness in San Francisco, CA.

I still have my $8 Movie Cash for the film, so I'll probably just wait until the film releases.

Re: Alita: Battle Angel (2019, EP: James Cameron, D: Robert Rodriguez)

There's a screening like 5 minutes from my house, but I'm not going to waste my time. They overbook these free screenings and you have to be there at least an hour early to get a seat. I don't have time to do that at 7PM on a weekday, and it's kinda not really worth my time even if it was on the weekend.

Looks like it screened in France yesterday. They did a Q&A with Rodriguez, Waltz, Salazar, and Jon Landau.

Re: Alita: Battle Angel (2019, EP: James Cameron, D: Robert Rodriguez)

"Fox's final release" seems like hyperbole. The company isn't being dissolved, it's becoming a subsidiary of Disney.

From the article:
With the Disney merger expected to complete by the end of March, “Kid” and “Alita” will likely be the final two films released in the 84-year history of 20th Century Fox, and it’s looking like they will both be costly misfires.
Fox Searchlight has The Aftermath scheduled for release March 15, 2019 , so that could possibly come out before the Disney merger completes.

I'm fairly convinced now that Cameron just handed the idea and story off and didn't really intervene until the end. Shame though, I finally read the premise, and it seems interesting. I guess it'll go the way of Ghost and the Shell.

Yea, just the other day this was being reported: "In a new SEC filing, The Walt Disney Company notes the in-progress acquisition of Fox and states, "expect deal will close before June 2019." This somewhat contradicts a report from earlier this month that the deal was expected to close by March, though it's unclear whether this is the result of delays, or whether Disney is simply being overly cautious in its report to the SEC."

Yeah, if it's not until June, then "20th Century Fox" has a few more titles to release:
https://www.boxofficemojo.com/studio...studio=fox.htm

Even after the acquisition, Fox, at least as a brand, isn't likely to go away soon. I mean, do we really think they're going to slap the Disney logo on New Mutants?

Has Disney actually said whether or not they will continue to use the Fox brand?

Isn't that exactly what he did? I didn't see anything that said he was more involved than the initial treatment and maybe some input on effects at the end, it was always said Rodriguez got it because Cameron just didn't have the time.
