Yea, that was annoying... they seem to never be anywhere close to the vicinity of the kidnap car, yet even with the police being able to speed through traffic and the other car going the speed limit - they seem to never catch up.

The serial kidnapper doesn't check his victim for a cellphone?
The victim had her own cell phone and her friends that she left by accident. So when she was abducted, one of the phones fell to the ground while she still had the other in her pocket. The kidnapper knew she no longer had her phone, and he wasn't going to assume she had 2 cellphones on her.

Oh, and lets do a cliché "take matters into our own hands"
The movie was merely passable (and better than I thought it would be) up to that point - then it really went down the shitter as soon as she decided to look into it herself. Everything at that point was implausible.

I will admit to missing that part. However once things started falling apart, how long did it take him to find the phone. Obviously that was the story so she couldn't lose it early but still stupid. Once I stop and kill a couple guys I might as well check her pockets, what else do I have to lose at that point? A criminal mastermind he wasn't. Maybe that's why it was less than 90 minutes instead of 2 hours?
