Re: A Good Day To Play Sheep

I agree with Rum Punch not being part of a series but the answer is wrong anyway because Jackie Brown was released more than 15 years ago.

Sin City and Captain America are comic books, not sure if you're counting those.

Re read the question. Says the movie had to come out within past 15 years, not the novel. Jurassic park is wrong for the reason I listed above. I would say comic books are wrong but I also say the question is worded such that you could include them.

The Lost World was a book.
Shit was there? I probably read it and forgot about it.

When was last jurassic park movie though? Early 2000's?

Now that I reread the q it does imply that the book series had to first become a film within last 15 years. I had originally read it as just an entry in the film series.

Jurassic park 3 came out in 2001 but it wasn't one of the books. I think you could make the case that the book series inspired the film series. It all depends on how you interpret "became".

That's what I meant, just any entry in the film series had to be released in the last 15 years I can see either way, although that would mean my answer was wrong

See, that's what I was wondering about. If the question had been "became a film series" it would exclude James Bond because the series didn't start within the last 15 years. By also including "became a film" it seems the wording allows new entries in film series that started more than 15 years ago. I have a feeling the use of film, singular, was intended to allow movies like The Hunger Games that don't have sequels released yet but are on the way, or perhaps movies that never got a sequel.

Re: A Good Day To Play Sheep

The question is: Name a book series (more than one book) that became a film or film series released in the last 15 years.

The James Bond and Jurassic Park series of books became films more than 15 years ago. That's how I took it. We'll have to let the sheepmaster make the final call on this one.

Re: A Good Day To Play Sheep

The questions will be:

1. Did the initial film in the series have to be released in the last 15 years?
2. Does a film sequel that isn't related to the books count (provided answer to #1 is no)?
3. Do comics and graphic novels count?

Of course comic BOOKS count as books.

But do they count for the purposes of this question? Allowing comic books creates the opportunity for a lot more unique answers than we already have.

Im sure orangecrush didn't intend for them to count, but with the wording of the q they kind of have to.

With it being my answer, I'd argue the former if the latter wasn't correct. Could've sworn it came out my junior year of college, but looks like I was a year off. Shit.

Also, I think everyone else's answers are correct, as long as comics count. Sheep master has to make the call on that.

I think the clarification needs to be whether "the last 15 years" applies to just the film or film series or the book series in addition to the film or film series.

Re: A Good Day To Play Sheep

I think the word "became" is important. Bond became a film series in 1962. It continued to be a film series to the present day.

I avoided Sin City because I didn't want to get into the debate.

But I didn't expect someone to match my pick.

I don't see why the book series has to be within 15 years. If there were commas in certain places in the question, then you could make that argument.

But because the question includes film singular and not just film series, the statement "Bond became a film in 2012" is also true.

I don't a shit what you guys decide, since my answer appears to be unique and I will be rewarded for it.

Bond, like Dr. Who, is more like a franchise given its long history and developing character arc -- series continuity seems to come and go.

If "become" implies "book series turned into film(s)" then Bond and Jurassic Park should count.

At this point I'm going to take my lawyer's advice and plead the Fifth.

I took film (singular) to be in reference to movies like Jack Reacher, where you have a singular film but multiple books. Bond is multiple movies stretching back to 1962. Jurassic Park is similar, but doesn't go as far back.
