Also I think people completely miss or missread that despite its dark topics it's filled with comedy. I think most of the audience was afraid to laugh.

Re: Is there a director that you love, but you haven't seen all of their movies?

I've seen all of Tarantino's films including his segment in Four Rooms. His segment and Rodriguez's segement are the only two I liked.
I've seen most of Spielberg's films except for War Horse, Lincoln and 1941.
I've seen all of Scorcese, David Lynch, James Cameron, The Coen Brothers and Ridley Scott's films up until now.
I've seen all of David Fincher's movies except for The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.

Re: Is there a director that you love, but you haven't seen all of their movies?

Hong Kong director Chang Cheh directed dozens of films, mostly kung fu, for Shaw Bros., from the 1960s to the early 1980s. I've seen 80 of his films, more than any other director. He has 95 credits on IMDB, although I'm not sure it's an accurate list. I'm not going to seek out the ones I don't have, but there are five of his films that I've never seen that are already in my collection, so I need to see those. (Two of them are on VHS, in a box in a closet covered up by other boxes.)

The unwatched five:
NINE DEMONS
ATTACK OF THE JOYFUL GODDESS
THE MAGNIFICENT WANDERERS
THE SINGING KILLER
THE BUTTERFLY CHALICE

One of the unwatched:

One reason I've avoided it for so long is that, despite the action scenes depicted, it's supposed to be a comedy.

Felt like doing an update so bump

Russ Meyer-I could live without seeing some of his early nudie cuties, but I'd still love to see The Seven Minutes

Cronenberg-Stereo, Crimes of the Future & Cosmopolis

Corbucci-I need to see Gli specialisti badly

Miike-No way in hell can I keep up with everything, but Blues Harp and Agitator tops my most-wanted list

Hitch-Only ones left (That I'm interested in) are Blackmail,Mr. & Mrs. Smith & Torn Curtain

Chang Cheh-Another most wanted list: Golden Swallow,Boxer From Shantung and The Weird Man

De Palma-Work from '68-'72 (Aside from Murder a la Mod)

Jodorowsky-Tusk & Rainbow Thief

Fuller-Hell and High Water, China Gate, Verboten! and The Crimson Kimono
Yikes. I've been real slow with these goals. I've only managed to see 2 others from my list (Who's/Door? and Blackmail)

(Not specifically listed, but I saw DePalma's Hi, Mom too)

But at least I've worked on Fuller. Saw Hell/High Water some time back (meh) and Crimson Kimono (Really liked) I've got Verboten on the DVR (I'll get to it this week) Still on the look-out for China Gate.

What the heck. Another bump.

Thanks to El Rey network, I finally completed my Chang Cheh goals.

Cronenberg-Saw Cosmopolis. Now I need to see Maps to the Stars.

Hitch-Torn Curtain was a little better than I thought it would be. Still haven't see "Smith" yet.

Fuller-Verboten was good, but could've been better if the Germans spoke their native language. Olive released China Gate, but Netflix doesn't have it (Surprise Surprise)

Re: Is there a director that you love, but you haven't seen all of their movies?

I've been wracking my brains to think of a prolific director whom I've seen all their films.

There's Tarantino (7 real films plus Four Rooms, Sin City, My Best Friend's Birthday as well as ER and CSI.

I've seen all of Kevin Smith's films.

Was sure I'd seen all of Spike Lee's stuff (including all the documentaries) but I checked IMDB and see I've missed Red Hook Summer and the Michael Jackson thing.

A couple years on, so I don't know if you've seen any more of these. I've probably seen 50 or so Chang Cheh's, so I've still got some to go. Magnificent Wanderers is kind of a standard Shaw kung fu movie---not fantastic but certainly watchable.

I'd highly recommend The Singing Killer though--all kinds of 70's goodness.

John Huston. I can sometimes adhere to the imdb rating system a little too closely. I've seen probably 2/3 of his work, but a lot of the stuff with bad reviews and a low score I've stayed away from, even though I intend to watch them.

Damn, I'd forgotten all about this and I still haven't seen those five unseen Chang Cheh films, but that trailer makes me wonder why the hell I've waited so long to see THE SINGING KILLER. Thanks!

Takashi Miike

One of my favorite directors but his output (quantity-wise) is ridiculous.

Quite a few mentions for David Fincher. I think it's the one director mentioned in this thread that I've seen all of his films, and I don't like about four of them, and he's only made 10 feature-length films.

Herzog and Woody Allen. Dudes are just too prolific.

He's an interesting man. His output is everywhere in quality as a mass but he has a lot more positive than negative. The quantity of the work is insane. Shit. Sometimes you get two solid Miike films out of like 4 or 5 he does in a year. Insane. Seems like he's been doing 2 or 3 since 2008. Maybe Age is getting to him but still... every year, we get at least 2 Miike films.

I'm just surprised that he can crank at that pace, especially given that the Japanese film industry is apparently dead compared to TV. Most filmmakers simply can't work at that pace logistically or commercially. He's an oddity.
